This has been helpful feedback for me too, as I'm also considering the pump. I read your article Alison... the dress question was one of my first, and the nurse also suggested the inner thigh as a site : )

I like to save my chocolate to correct my lows. I also try to stay under 35 g per meal. I like to try to skip carbs at lunch, have a salad with a protein, and eat my carb as a fruit in the late afternoon, like an apple or banana.

I hear you. My Lantus also makes me yelp sometimes! It DOES really hurt - and it's about 50% of the time, so I'm always tense about it.

Why do my wrists and fingers ache?

Last night, I know I underestimated my carbs for dinner, and ended up a bit high after dinner and right until bedtime. I took my normal amount of Lantus, and woke up with a 9 (not so bad). What was strange was my fingers and wrists ached all night, and still felt very stiff and sore in the morning. Is this an effect of high blood sugar? Does anyone experience this?

This has not been the first time I've had this, but it was more common prior to my recent diagnosis, when my sugars were extremely… Continue

39 and newly T1 Diabetic

I switched schools in September to take on a new teaching job in a leadership position. It contained a great deal of stress, some good, some not so great, and an immense amount of pressure (mostly brought on by my own need to be successful in my new role). So when I began to… Continue

Hi Randi,

Wanted to welcome you to the Tu D community. Happy you found us. Wonderful people here to share with & learn from. I've learned more from the members than I have from my doctors. I'm Type 1, too.

Hey Randi:

You're VW!! I hope things are coming together for you. Did you observe Earth Hour and turn your non-essential lights out at 8:30 last night? We did for most of the evening and enjoyed the darkness(with the fireplace and oil lamps aglow). :D Take Care.
