I used to be a "walking carbohydrate" before I got LADA, or type 1.5. But I'm a happy pesco-vegetarian for 10 years. I used to say: "I gave up Meat for Chocolate Cake!" I didn't want to get Cancer. Jokes on me. Now I have diabetes.

My life on meds with pain..oh, and DIABETES

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in early 2008. I did not believe this diagnosis at first and I sought out several "second opinions" before I believed it to be true. I am still dealing with this conclusion.

In 2005 I was diagnosed with LADA, a form of Type 1 diabetes, from which I have developed neuropathy in the backs of my calves. I have recently started having burning and stiffness in my hands, which is causing me a lot of anxiety and concern. I hate being in pain.

I was originally advised… Continue

Hi Rebecca,

Thanks for the friend invite.

I hear ya on the gastroparesis. Insult to injury! I haven't had the pain yet(thankful for this), but my endo diagnosed it from my crazy BG readings after dinner. Low after dinner, followed by huge spikes 4-5 hours later. I'm now on a med for this, but it's only been a few days so I can't tell yet if it's helping.
The drug, Ondansetron ODT, is given to people undergoing chemo to help with nausea, but it also speeds up stomach emptying. We'll see.

Hi, Rebecca! Sorry to hear you were dx'd with Gastroparesis... When you get a second please check out the link I have attached. There are many great exercises, tips and tricks discussed on how to alleviate the"full stomach" feeling...please pay close attention to pages 356, 357 and 359. The link I am sending is a free preview of Dr. Bernstein book, so it does not have all the pages but it has a lot of information....I hope it is of some help to you.

I have had no issues with changing the insulin in my pump... do you have this issue? I have mastered "air bubbles" finally. The only thing about the entire Diabetes thing I do not like is some of the complications that creep up sometimes... but besides that everything is peachy :)
