Diagnosis at age 7 and 3/4, August 29, 1970....

The summer of 1970. I can remember being at Disneyland; drinking water, going on a ride, drinking water, going on a ride, drinking water, going to the bathroom, drinking water, going on a ride, and my sisters always yelling at me, "Come on, Becky. Hurry up!" (NO, I don't like to be called Becky anymore...As an adult I prefer Rebecca or Becka).

I was diagnosed the day before my Mother's birthday, August 29, 1970. I can remember two families from the Los Angeles area visiting us in my h… Continue

So, I did something very nice for myself on my biological birthday this year!!!

It just happened to be on my biological birthday, but I did a 5k walk for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at Dodger Stadium this year!!! I was so happy to do this on my birthday, too. My friend and her three grand-daughters joined me, as well!! I met my goal and then a little more! And then just two days later got sick (I'm sure the two are not related!!). Now I look forward to World Diabetes Day and plan to wear light blue. In fact, one of my friends gave me blue earrings and barrette… Continue

My Experience With The Behavioral Diabetes Institute--the first of its kind in the U.S.A. (so they say)!!! {:D

Rebecca M. Rodick has sent you a message on TuDiabetes - A Community for People Touched by Diabetes

Hey, you all!!!!

I just wanted to let all of you know about my experience at the Behavioral Diabetes Institute's Type I luncheon which was held on Saturday, October 10, in the La Jolla (San Diego) area.

Aside from the two mistakes in driving instructions (which made me much later than I pathetically, usually am!), I had a very nice time!

The theme was Celebration of Strength and there was a gu… Continue

Hi there. I just wanted to stop by and thank you for your comment. It helped me greatly. Last night was awkward for me, and that blog post came out of nowhere. I feel rather silly for it now, but your comment was greatly appreciated. Thanks again, and if you don't mind, I sent you a friend request.

Hi Rebecca, Thank you for getting back to me and I'm glad you're OK with us using your photo. If you email me your address (tneithercott@diabetes.org), I can send you a copy of the issue when it comes out, regardless of whether we use that photo.

Thanks again!

Hi Rebecca! I I haven't seen the book, Cloudy with A Chance of Meatballs. I heard it was cute but they should not have made a movie out of it. How can you take a picture book and make it into a full lenght movie? That is Hollywood for you.
I do not know of a Greg Shaw. I had some relatives in Salinas and Fresno. I haven't seen or heard from them since around 1981. Bill and Carol Shaw were in the Salinas area. Bill would be about 70 now. There kids would all be in there 40's. Hmmm. You never know. He might be related somehow. I know my dad's family came from Odessa, TX originally.

Rebecca, I'm a writer with Diabetes Forecast and in an upcoming issue we're going to be featuring Terry Keelan. A photo he submitted includes you. If we decide to use that photo, is it OK with you that your photo appear in a print and possibly online edition of the magazine?

Thanks! Tracey Neithercott
