Stress as a trigger for Diabetes 1 ?

Wondering if any Type 1 folks suspect or are reasonably sure that heavy stress may have been a trigger for their their condition.

Robert, I know what you mean. I carried many folks on their first ride and almost all of them had that "smile". The only one I remember that didn't was my sister-in-law -- she got a little air-sick (or nervous). No further comments needed. BTW: I bought my 172 new and it sold for twice what I paid for it. Wish I had kept it now, however. Like some other guys, I never aspired to getting a faster, bigger, etc. airplane. I loved my bird, we understood each other. I better stop before I make a grown man cry -- me!

I owned a C172 for years. I had FAA permission to fly left seat (after the written and check ride) as long as my wife was in the right seat (she holds a private ticket). I understand that diabetics can actually be licensed now. I really tried to get my ticket with the help of AOPA and many conversations, but no luck. All that was in the '80s. Managed to get 600 hrs left seat. Decided to sell it when my kids started looking all skinny and ragged, and buy food and clothes. Just kidding...

Hi Christina, flew into Mangalore some time back in a Jabiru and they had one runway (18/36) closed due to a RC metting there and saw a very fast streak a couple of hundred feet under me, I think it was a Sabre jet or similiar, made my 100kt speed look slow ! I spent all afternoon there as I had not been to an RC meeting before.
