Hey Danny, ACE inhibitors are the drugs that have cough as a side effect. ARBs are pretty much equivalent to ACE inhibitors but they do not cause cough and cost more money. Just a quick correction :)

Joe, Oh boy do I know what you're going through. The problem with me is that I'm scared to have my blood pressure checked! Doctor's offices don't normally scare me that much (which is comforting considering I'm a medical student lol ) but the sec...

Here's the problem with your reasoning Ryan: you're taking statistics out of context and trying to apply them to justify your reasoning. I'm not going to say you're wrong, because we are all entitled to an opinion, but I must say I disagree with y...

Where I was, Where I'm going

My introduction to the life of carb counting came at 14 years old, just before the start of my Freshman year in high school. I remember that entire summer was a marathon of urination, and after researching the symptoms I decided I probably had Diabetes. After asking my parents, they told me I was crazy, and some of my friends said I should eat more salt so I stop peeing lol. Needless to say, towards the end of the summer I began to violently vomit and entered the hospital with a blood sugar o

Previous to pumping my A1c hovered in the 7.2 range. Three months after starting on the pump it dropped to 4.1 and the doctor told me to let up on myself - so I did. To answer you question, I am an Optometrist certified to treat diseases of the eye. I see a lot of diabetics in my practice. Diabetics should not ignore the doctor when he says to get a dilated eye examination.

When I went into the military originally, I my diabetes was "honeymooning" and I was living life without taking insulin. So, to the screening question that asked "Do you have diabetes"? I answered "NO", actually, back then, I didn't think I did anymore. ;) Of course now, since I am a pumper, I am able to remain in the military as I have a retention waiver under the proviso that I use an insulin pump and maintain good control of my blood glucose levels. If you google insulin pump use in the Army, you will find some great case studies.

Caveat, you may not ENTER the military with diabetes presently, but you MAY be retained with pump usage if you are found to have diabetes while you are within your military career.

yea - all the Brunswicks, it is everywhere. regarding the stem cell loan, I think the tax burden is too much for most folks, it's the number 2 reason why people move out of NJ - (lol number 1 is they're sick of Bon Jovi) I've been working for many years and I know first hand about not being able to foot any more tax burden. I think that the cell research is alive and well and if there is benefit for us (which there has to be) it'll get the attention anyway! good to hear from 'ya (BTW whos in the pic behind you?) what's your major? and what the heck is a mattress slinger? take care
