High glucose levels ? ? ?

I am so so concerned about hurting my baby and even having a miscarriage because of high blood sugars. I am really really upset today because my glucose is up over 400 and I CANT get it down :( Has anyone been told anything about one or two highs ending a pregnancy if I do better most of the time? What in the world do I do? I can't be perfect all the time but this is terrible.See More

My diabetes is a mess as am I a lot of the time because of it... but at least occasionally in the midst of being out of control I can choke back the fear that this chronic condition is going to get the better of me and I can poke some fun back at it. Maybe this is no laughing matter but I am past crying over my A1c levels and off chart liver enzyme tests...

I have a Bayer Contour meter right now (it seems like the preferred meter company gets juggled a lot with my substandard…

The pump funding battle

Posted on September 19, 2009 at 10:17pm 2 Comments

I have type 1 diabetes. I was diagnosed when I was 10 years old. I have always struggled with my diabetes; it is a constant challenge to balance out the levels of insulin, food intake and exercise. It takes multiple blood tests every day and lots of injections. For me I have become so frustrated because I am doing all of the things that should result in having reasonable glucose levels but all the work and energy I put into it isn’t working. My glucose will bounce from high to low over and… Continue

Thanks Rose Joelle, my husband called when it was delivered and said the box was big enough to fit a small child in it, he wasn't kidding.

Keep us updated on your progress.

What pump and what infusion set are you using Rose? I used to have problems with the 9mm QuickSet infusion set kinking and then I wouldn't get any insulin and go very high. Now I use the 6mm Quick Set and have no problems.

Hope that your blood sugars come down quickly!

Rose, I saw your post on the Animas Pump Forum. I wanted to try to offer help about the financial end of pumps and supplies. I'm a little confused if you already have a pump or not? Anyway, I got my Ping started July 21st. It has changed my life. I have other health issues and needed a pump because I could not keep any long term control of my BG. I get help with cost by CCS, a distributor. Liberty Medical also does this but it is for Medicare patients and I am disabled so have Medicare. If you are younger, then email me at toddranch@valornet.com and I'll give other suggestions.

Hi Rose! Sorry to hear about the frustrations with the pump payment. Any news on that? Did you try appealing the insurance decision? Mine did not want to pay at first either, but eventually did.
