Ruptured disc

Posted on January 4, 2012 at 7:28am 0 Comments

11-11-11 yesterday they found that my ruptured disc had grown into a 3 sided rupture and was pinching on my nerves. I was rushed to emergency surgery and had the reupture removed and L2, L3 and L4 fused. Spent the next 3 days in ICU and was released on the 4th day. I spent the next 6 weeks recovering at home. doing well

ENDO visit

Posted on February 10, 2011 at 2:09pm 1 Comment

I got the results of my blood work today and my A1C was up from 5.5 to 6.4. I went off LOW CARB during my recovery from knee replacement surgery and that caused me to go a little over. Still have not made it back to LOW CARB. He did add Levemir to my meds. Started that last night dropped 30 points on my morning number.

ENDO visit 2-9-11

Posted on February 10, 2011 at 7:42am 0 Comments

Update I have been on Victoza since July 2010 with Novolog and Glimipride. I used to do LOW CARB/NO CARB until my knee replacement surgery 11-24-10 but went off during recovery to make things easier. I feel a lot better but have not been able to maintain or loose weight. My morning numbers have been 140 to 190

Yesterday he added Levermir to my meds to help with the morning numbers. I started last night with 10 units AM and PM and will work up until my morning numbers are 120 or less. He… Continue

Victoza day 3, 4, 5, weekend

Posted on July 26, 2010 at 7:31am 1 Comment

.I stopped taking my Lantus shots Friday night and things smoothed out a little. My numbers ran a little above normal and I felt sick but not sick enough to not get anything accomplished over the weekend. I wanted to run several days before I made any adjustments to my meds. My overnights have been respectable.

I faxed my logs in to the ENDO office this morning. Maybe they will call with adjustments.

Day 2 with Victoza

Posted on July 23, 2010 at 7:21am 0 Comments

Day one ended ended with numbers in the 80's 90's and 111 when I went to bed( I thougt this is great). At 3:07am I woke to 65 treated with 2 candied orange slices(24mg) and went back to bed. At 5:51am I was 66 and treated with 2 candied orange slices( 2 orange slices would normally have me at 130 in 1 hour). I had another orange slice while getting dressed for work. The tiredness is gone felt real good. Had my usual breakfast of 4oz sausage pattie and had 7 triscuits(20gm) with it trying to…

Hi Russel:)
My Dad was in Nam 69 thru 72. He retired Army in 73. He came back a forever changed man. Glad to see you doing so well on weightloss! I'm on byetta also... just a very slow weightloss for me.( My numbers are being controlled greatly!) I'm also slowly moving my way over to raw/vegan eating lifestyle.

My dad was one of the 1st Navy Sealds! So he got injured by falling out of a helicopter during (of all things) training! That sent him home VERY unhappy!

Thanks Russell but I already own this book and find most of it very useful. I am not trying to lose weight however, I need to gain some. I am a newly diagnosed Type 1 and was thin before I started lowcarb eating. Now I am about 20 pounds underweight. Funnily enough, you and I were diagnosed during the same week! I am lucky in that I can use insulin to allow me to eat a wider range of helathy foods than are allowed on the Bernstein diet, such as fruit and yogurt, rather than artificial sweeteners and cream. I do prescribe to his belief that people with diabetics should maintain normal blood sugar and I am able to do this with a combination of low carb eating, insulin and exercise. My A1C is 5.6 and that's about the best I can manage if I don't want to live on eggs, meat and cheese.
