"Oh my, then all the more, do what I am doing which is researching to reverse things naturally. So, I will take your clue and I will look into the diet you are following, because ironically what had caused me a problem for 2 weeks was suddenly…"
"Here is a journal that has unfortunately been excluded from many databases simply because of the ongoing feud conventional medicine has against more natural approaches. I often will look up something in the Journal Of Orthomolecular Medicine here..…"
"Fortunately for me, so far I have normal thyroid results. Dr. B. does say that many diabetics may eventually have thyroid problems because, like diabetes, thyroid failure is a hormonal issue, not because his diet causes thyroid problems.
I do have a…"
"Of the 4 women in this discussion has anyone thyroid issues? Because if you are having a hard time keeping weight up, is it due to meds being too high? I am researching it a lot to avoid needing any thyroid meds and found out acid reflux is a side…"
I too have struggled to maintain weight. I originally lost weight following my diagnosis and a few months later had to go on Levemir. Now I am just careful to get enough calories. I used to track it on Fatsecret.com. It took a while for me…"
"I have Pernicious Anemia, which totally destroys your Hcl and enzymes. The only way that I can digest a meal is to take Hcl-enzyme pills. I would think that taking them without needing them could lead to acid reflux. As for probiotics--I have celiac…"

I got leg cramps in the morning when I began to experience symptoms of T1, which I was confirmed having after an initial misdiagnosis of T2. Have you checked your ketones? When you pancreas isn't producing enough insulin, your body cannot burn glucose for energy, and begins to digest fat, then muscle. Have you lost weight? Ketones are a byproduct of fat burning and if you have high ketones, you might want to see an endo if you are not now. Test strips for ketones are available at most pharmacies.
Your "low carb diet and minimal insulin approach" is the same as mine, but I add in supplements. Thanks for starting the DrB group. I'm a believer in orthomolecular medicine and regret that in Canada NDs are not covered and MDs are not taught naturopathic approaches to disease. We have a disease care system, not a health care system, but at least MDs are covered by taxes. I go to the doctor very minimally for 30 years. My GP is a personal friend, and my endo I've known for 24 years of my 29 as a diabetic, but I find my own answers and thank God for the Internet.
