Sam Ebert replied to Eden Barrington's discussion 'CGM unreliable readings?!' in the group Continuous Glucose Monitor Users
"Hi Eden, that range is pretty close to what I get. I have found that the CGM is best for tracking changes of blood sugar, not for really accurate readings. If it is high or low according to the CGM I check with the meter. Any reading below 100 via…"

"Hi Folks, The best that I have done is 7 days. I use a pretty sticky tape to keep the thing on my thigh and there is no way to take it off without buggering up the sensor. It has created a system that works for me, I change it Sunday morning because…"

Sam Ebert replied to Lulu Moe's discussion 'CGM Sites and Sun Exposure' in the group Continuous Glucose Monitor Users
"At the front of the thigh away from all the junk I carry in my front pocket. Not too far towards the inside and not too far to the outside as I sleep on my sides. Basically it is where I used to do the injections. Lots of adipose fat there."

Sam Ebert replied to Lulu Moe's discussion 'CGM Sites and Sun Exposure' in the group Continuous Glucose Monitor Users
"Lulu Moe, I have been using my thighs pretty much since day one with the MM CGM. I do find that I have to put the pump on the same side as the sensor, but it has worked OK for me. Remember that the CGM is not necessarily giving an accurate readout…"

"Verbiage I received is turn off RF per the manufacturer. FAA Flight Surgeon and Delta's Flight Surgeon both stated RF on diabetes equipment is the same as hearing aids (go figure). The conjecture about why we are told to turn them off is no…"

Hey, Sam....thanks for all of the helpful information! You know your stuff---appreciate the tips. I'm going to change the resevoir and sensor this afternoon. For some reason I"m kind of dreading it...I"m sure it will be easier than I'm anticipating. SInce this is my first week and I have to go back to the CDE on Tuesday, I"m going to keep the schedule they gave me until I'm confident I can manage all of this. Again thanks for your help and I hope you don't mind my asking you a question or two from time-to-time. Cheers! ---Anthony

Hi, Sam....happy to see that this topic is being discussed. I just started pumping this past Monday (three days ago). I didn't find the "installation" of the sensor or infusion set to be all that much fun. It really work out ok to leave them on for as long as you mention? My pump educator told me to change them every 3 days, possibly extending 4 days for the sensor. I think I"m already having trouble with the sensor...it's not blinking as I read it should. Will keep reading this list for tips and tricks. Take good care. ---Anthony

So far so good, Sam. We went to Lulu last night and it was so nice to just push a button instead of having to bust out my insulin vial, syringe, etc. I love how discrete you can be. No one has to know. And for the first time I can remember I had a dessert all to myself - sweet potato cake and vanilla ice cream at Common House. It was lovely. I've been much more in tune to my mgmt and am testing much more frequently. It's been a good thing thus far, thanks for asking. You kids gearing up for the crawfish boil???? :)

Hi Sam, and Welcome!
I am originally a Tar Heel, born in Morganton, just up the road from Charlotte.
I've been T1 for 35 years and although it's a big nuisance, there are a lot of worse things that people have to cope with.

Now let me get this straight -- do you make bread or do you make beer -- or both?? I've made bread with beer!!
