So you have been on the OmniPod for 3 yrs ? I was diagnosed Oct 95 and been using the Navigator for 3 years and the Omni for only 6 / 8 week. I find the Omni difficult for a comfort point of view. I also find the reatction time of my Humalog to be alot slower. Any thoughts ?

Sam, I think lifestyle is what deterrmines what works for each individual. Since you don't like the idea of tubing, you'll probably be real happy with the pod. I had read a lot about occlusions with it so make sure you have a good support person to call just in case. As for me, I just want a pump and did my testing for Medicare today so now I wait just like you. With medicare, even if I qualify, they only buy refurbished pumps so I don't know if they even cover Omnipod but due to my health and lifestyle, tubing doesn't matter to me. Good luck with yours and I hope it makes your life much better.

Sam,
I'm not sure if your reply about what I'd heard on the Pod was directed to me or someone named sugarbabie but if you go back in the thread, there are some comments and you'll see one with a link where he really lists a lot of negative things. Also, I looked on I believe it was the Omnipod users group and saw negative things. Maybe it was just that day but since the thread had some negs also I just didn't feel it was right for me. If you feel that strongly, I certainly will read some more before making my choice. Thanks, Karla

hi sam, my endo and CDE helped me figure out my basal dose. they don't recommend doing this yourself, especially if you're coming from 2 different type of insulin (there's some kind of calculation they do). they also help you with programming your ratios and targets. hope this helps!
