Help!

Although this has little to do with diabetes, I remember someone was starting a group for people who got caught in this economic downturn and were looking for viable employment. I can't find that post. I am a recruiter in the Engineering/Manufacturing field. I am looking for a Product Development Engineer with rotational motor experience/vibrational analysis background. If anyone out there knows of someone please have them contact me at burkeskb@msn.com. Thanks again for your help in health and… Continue

I am new to this whole diabetic experience. Diagnosed Dec.17,2008 with a BG of 396 and A1c 8.9. Started with Metformin 2000mg daily. Made me throw up after taking it constantly so doc changed to glipizide 4 times daily. It doesn't seem to be controlling my BG even though I have been rigid about what I eat. I am not much of a meat eater so it has been hard to find a good protein to supplement. Anyone who has a good brand of protein shake or some other idea as to how to eat a more protein laden… Continue

Sandra,
I inject only 22 hour Basel twice a day, with a bit of R mixed in for fun. I eat super low carbs. I eat lots of seafood and eggs as well as beef a few times a week. I don't use fast acting insulin at all so I have to eat when I get hungry, twice a day. This method has worked well for me for many decades. My A1Cs are always between 5.5 and 6. I feel hunger so I test twice a month unless I have a cold or flu. I passed my 51st year with type 1 last summer and have yet to have any complications.

I am retired so spend most days at home so I have a definite advantage there, hence the low A1Cs. When working they were higher.

Hi Sandra,
Thank you so much for contacting me. my last A1C was 8.8. I go back to my MD next month and I KNOW that my numbers will be lower. My wife is always looking for new ways to make meal and snack time interesting. You are more than welcome to add me to your friends list if you want. Have a good day.

Hi Sandra

I wasn't able to make it to the funeral home or funeral. Definitely too much with my 4 year old. Did you make it?

Sandra, please when you get back from the funeral, please write a blog about it. For those of us who loved Sandy dearly, we would appreciate all the details. I am going to be there in spirit with you.

Hi Sandra: If you do go to the wake (if it's in the evening), let me know - perhaps we can meet up. I'm thinking of going also. I can't take off work for the funeral, but I can try to make the wake.

Hi Sandra,

I read your diet, diet, diet blog entry and was nodding my head about the BG level. At one point my BG was in the high 300's (used my husband's tester to check) but by the time I got into the doctors office it was down to around 297.

Anyway, thanks for the info on the egg protein powder. I tried to use the link you provided for www.oldstatehealth.com but the link is not good and a Google search found nothing for that company name. I will next try to just Google the brand name you recommended.

BTW, you mentioned that the egg protein powder comes in chocolate, does it also come in other flavors?

Again thanks for the info.
