Lows at the Beach

SO I live in Virginia Beach and have been going to the beach twice a week since the warm weather started. However! Ive noticed that, just sitting in my chair doing nothing but sweating in the sun, lowers my blood sugar tremendously! I checked it today at the beach and it was 55! Ive completely stopped taking insulin at lunch time if Im going to the beach. Has anyone else noticed this??I was diagnosed with Type 1 a little over 4 months ago. I have also been involved with a stem cell study and…See More

Yeah, I also have to adjust what I am eating to my insulin dose. Sometimes I am not hungry at all, sometimes I want to eat lots.
The most horrible situation is when people snack around me. Especially at university where I constantly see all the vending machines and hot chocolates...mmhh... I guess I have to stop thinking about it xD
I also was not throwing the unhealthy stuff away from our fridge but was more like "I will eat this marmelade until its finished and then I´ll buy no more". So this his how it goes for now xD
Now I have 2 NovoRapid @ breakfast, 4 @ lunch, 6 @ dinner and 8 before sleep which is alright, but I can get it down even further if I eat properly (i.e. diet). My levels are around 10. Usually ppl get hypos under 4, but I start shaking when I am around 5 which is really annoying sometimes. Right now, I am just experimenting and see how my body and blood sugar reacts to different things. Sometimes when I go to bed and use 6 units of Levimir I end up having a higher glucose reading in the next morning sometimes xD
I have no clue right now, but I guess that the more time passes on, I would be able to handle it better.
Are you doing any exercise? And are you scared about the possible future complications?

Hey Sarah!
Are you managing your blood sugar well?
Mine is up and down like crazy. Can´t focus on anything right now except on me having diabetes and changing the diet, exercise etc.
How is your "regime" and how many units do you take?
I use pens as well, but I am not allowed to doese myself yet which is a bit annoying. How far have you changed your diet?
