Hey Sarah, I see that you got the onetouch ping. I know you are happy, I get mines next week. Hope you have been doing good, have fun this halloween, and DONT eat to much candy.

Oh you are so lucky - you are getting a PING! I could get one now, they are here in Canada next month ... finally ... but in order to upgrade - it's a $1,000. Don't have that kind of $$$'s. Just like the remote bit with the PING.
What colour are you getting? My 2020 is blue, but when I was at the IDF congress - I managed to get Animas to give me a pump cover (it's like rubber) - in purple! They will be here in Canada in a few months (aren't you glad you don't live here - it's like we're in the friggin' Stone Ages!).
So, here's to many years of pumping! May your live improve to the point that you no longer feel like you have diabetes! I know that's how I feel now since being on the pump - free as a bird - snag - on the door knob (trust me - this may happen a few times - but no harm was done to myself or Antonio - the name of my pump).

Bonjour Sarah - thanks for adding me as a friend! Can't wait to hear about your new pump (what are you getting?). I came across one that I'd never heard of yesterday at the IDF Diabetes World Congress - smaller then my Animas 2020 - lighter - holds 300 units - they let me stamp on it to see how strong it was. I think I threw them off with some of my answers! I am a bad diabetic - aren't I?
Take care and stay healthy!

I-N-S-U-L-I-N

I is for inside me, where the insulin makes its bed.
N is for never ending, we won't stop taking it until we are dead.
S is for shots and pumps, two ways we take the med.
U is for under my skin, where the cannula fits in
L is for Long acting and short acting, the two kinds it comes in.
N is for not quitting, I'll fight this D-battle to the end.

I hope the end is a cure, as we all do. This is a tribute to the insulin I take every day, I owe it my life. Thank you, little vial of clear liquid. You… Continue

Diabetes Anniversary

This blog is originally posted on my blogspot site. The address is http://thepwdpk.blogspot.com. Check it out!!

Disclaimer: This is long. It's somewhat rambling. I've posted some of the information before. But it's my 11th diabetes anniversary. So I'm posting my story, again. Please take the time to read it in honor of American Diabetes Month.

I'm sitting on my bed, at 11:11 the night before this entry will post, trying to write a pape… Continue

Pumpy!!

I am currently in posession of Pink Pingy, or as a friend suggusted I name her, Miss Pingy. (her name is not finalized yet). I think I am going to keep the name and name the bg monitor/PDA Silverton.

I can't use her yet.

I hope I will be able to soon.

That is all.

Moving forward with self-care

I got to see Dr. M. yesterday and the appointment went way better than expected.

In the past, Dr. M. has been sub-par. I switched to her when my time with my traveling peds endo expired (aka when I turned 17) because of numerous praises from some of her diabetes patients in my church. I expected miracles. I got four years of A1cs in the 8 and 9 percents.

In retrospect, I know this was my own doing. Diabetes, I have learned, is a disease we have to handle ourselves and the doctor is merely ther… Continue

All Day Long I Dream of....

This was originally posted to my blogspot. You should check it out.

So this weekend, as I said, I wasn't feeling well. I took the day off school today in order to try and fully "recuperate."

This sickness has caused me to sleep a lot. A. Lot.

I have also spent my free time researching Continous Glucose Monitors, Pumps, Pods, and the like. This has ranged from asking my twitter friends what they pump with and why they like their pump t… Continue
