OmniPod using Johnson & Johnson Lifescan?

Has anyone else read or ran across any info. on this? I just read an investement article on PODD that talks about OmniPod working with Johnson & Johnson. This is the first that I've heard of this and curious as to what it might mean or if a change in the pdm controller of the podds. Below is a cut and paste from the article I read...Just curious is anyone else knows anything more on this."Currently, Insulet Corporation’s next generation OmniPod insulin pump is awaiting 510(k) clearance from…See More

1 Shot good for 120 days!!

Posted on July 16, 2010 at 12:46pm 6 Comments

I was on my Yahoo page today and noticed one of the top search subjects was "Insulin" and immeadiatly caught my attention. So I checked out what the search was and came across this article...Not sure how much has been out there on this but I had not heard of it before.

Some researchers have been working a new Long-Lasting Insulin Shot that could last for up to 120 days! Could you imagine only 3 shots a year...I'm hoping to see this in my lifetime! Take Care…

First POD--So Far So Good !

Posted on April 17, 2010 at 7:20am 4 Comments

To all of my friends that I’ve met and those I’ve yet to meet. I have read your posts, tips, suggestions, moral support and at times more than I could process. I’ve been officially on a pump (POD) for about 60 hours and just went thru my first POD change this morning (changed it early as wanted to get on a am change routine). I have to say that the first few days and the first change went off without a hitch. I even let my little guy hit the “launch” button as we are calling it—he thought that… Continue

Hi there, hope you are well. A blog led me to your music player and I really like your playlist. Some of the artists I have not heard but love. Thought you would like this, you might already know it but I think it is nice. Have a nice Father's Day!

Hey thanks for the reply, good to hear that you're killing it with your new pump!! Things have been still so confusing for me seems like i have to eat more than normal to keep my bg up. Everyone says I'm honey mooning and to enjoy it, so I have been except I'm back to work at a ski resort snowboarding as much as possible and burning through sugars fast while doing it seems like i always have to be munching on something ????

Hi Schmutz: I just saw your comment. I have only 1 dog right now. She is also a "british lab", and I run AKC and UKC hunt tests, UK style field trials, and the qualifying stake in US field trials. She has her HRCH UH and MH titles. I judge HRC and AKC hunt tests as well. I am your basic duck hunter and dog game junkie!

Hi Schmutz, Yes the 870 allamerican is one of my trap guns. I've had it since 1976. My numbers usually run from 85 to 120 during the day except for when I eat. It goes up like a rocket and then falls almost as fast. My endo just shakes her head on that. My A1c's have always been good. I do not remember any over 7.5. Since pumping now for 2 1/2 years my #'s have been coming down. My last was 6.2 about 4 months ago.

Schmuzs, Good luck. I've been to South Dakota pheasant hunting 3 years ago. The guide was on a Minimed pump and that pushed me into getting one. I had problems with the minimed in 9 deg weather. My basal rate is so low (0.10/hr) that the insulin got affected. I researched the omnipod and went with it August 09. I works great in the cold under all my cold weather gear.

Hey Schmutz, yeah, I'm over this whole waiting thing!! Luckily for me, my endo has been ever so gently pushing me towards a pump for 9 months. It's just a matter of getting the goodies sent, setting up my training session, then doing it. Argghhhhh!!! >(

OOOO I am so happy for you! Glad the Pod is working out so well. French Fries and Ice Cream? wow. And good BS's too??? That is just like a dream lol

Yes, I am going to my Primary doctor on Thurs of this week and he is putting in a referral to a Endo. then I will discuss the Pod. I will be a big chicken I just know it...it will take me some time to feel "safe" but, I really think it is time. Thanks for the offer to help....two more of my friends on TuD are on the Pod too. thanks again and I am so happy for you. Take Care

Thanks Schmutz! Yes, I think the Pod is a better set up and I like everything about it. I just met with with the rep this evening and hope to get the ball rolling soon and be Podding along. I work with electricity....I don't play with it. I would not be around long if I did that. Yes, I would like to talk with a fellow lineman and get first hand information as to how it worked out for him......
