What Lies Beyond My Understanding

Recently at the 2013 Lilly Diabetes Blogger Summit, I realized that there was a new place where answers about type I lived, a place that I didn't yet understand how to get to. That moment was exciting because it meant that one day I could do an even better job of keeping Arden's BGs in range. I like that idea very much.See More

Tears of Insulin

Maybe it was the overwhelming feeling that Arden couldn't live without the concoction or perhaps it was when I realized how many dedicated people it takes to make the insulin that Arden needs so desperately. I'm still not completely sure why the sight of insulin production was so…See More

I pre-bolused. I counted carbs. I over-estimated those carbs. I set temp basal rates. I did everything that I know how to do and two hours later, it appeared as though my foresight had won the battle. Arden's BG was 150 two hours after insulin and some ninety…See More

The Descendants Made Me Cry 3 Times

This past weekend I found myself exhausted but unable to sleep. Remarkably, it wasn't diabetes that was keeping me up (like it did the five nights prior), this night I was trying to stay awake so I could pick my son up from a party at 1 am - so I turned on the television and found that 'The Descendants' was about to begin.See More

What have you always wanted to say to your child's teacher?

Is there something about type I diabetes that you always wanted to say to your child's teacher but just couldn't? A fact or maybe a personal story? Have you ever dreamt of telling the administrator (that looked at you cross when you asked for an addition to your child's 504 plan) that you haven't slept through the night in countless years? Have you even once…See More

Thanks so much for taking the time to speak with me for Discuss Diabetes, Scott. The article turned out great! You know how much I enjoyed reading an advanced reader’s copy of your book! I’m eager for my husband, a fellow stay-at-home dad as you know, to read it too!
My best, Laura K.

Hi Scott,

Our Annual Campaign is coming!

Would you consider helping by writing a short comment/testimonial about your
experiences at TuD? The main message for the campaign this year is that no
one with diabetes should ever feel alone. Messages from our community give
people a real-life, personal sense of how valuable TuDiabetes is to each of
us, how it's changed our lives, etc.

If you can, please include a photo of you doing something diabetic (if that
makes sense LOL). Please post to this group
(http://www.tudiabetes.org/group/why-i-participate-in-this-community), or message to me from my page.

Thanks my friends!

Hi Scott, I was responding to Mikes discussion r/e starting the omnipod and was impressed with your comments. You are obviously a great dad and great advocate for type 1. I love seeing positive, proactive parenting on here without all the doom and gloom we are in this for the long hall and need all the support we can get, you inspired me today and arden is a beauty, enjoy her sweet innocence diabetes can't take that. she is so fortunate to feel safe in your loving care. have a great week! amy
