Your question regarding running high immediately after you eat would be normal to some extent. How many carbs are you normally eating per meal? You should test 2 hours after the meal rather then immediately after to get a good sense to how well your rates are working for you. How soon are you testing after a meal normally? I haven't played with my basal rates much myself other then to lower mine slightly from 1 to .85. However, some people find that they run high/low during certain times of day(for whatever reasons) and adjust their rates based on those trends. I normally only use temp basals when I do something like exercise to avoid going too low. You may want to consider even putting a post up on the forum discussion here asking about people who do use several basal rates on their insulin pumps during the day. But since you're new to pumping I would take one thing at a time. Make any changes if needed gradually especially while your body is adjusting to being on a pump! Just be patient. :) If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

Take care and be well....linda.View All Comments
