CGM and Omnipod or just Omnipod

Posted on April 26, 2010 at 11:30am 12 Comments

Hello everyone!

My doctor has suggested that I be on a CGM with the pump. I really like the Omnipod and it doesn't come with CGM built in. I don't like the idea of wearing two devices. My doctor thught that Omnipod would be coming out with an integrated CGM in about six months...Hate to say that I don't want to wait that long! I have been a Type I for 22 years and this will be my first pump. Any comments, advice or suggestions, PLEASE!!!

Thanks, Michelle

I hope the Dex/Omnipod works for you...I have been doing it for some time now. Although I thought It would be GREAT, it only turned out to be CONVENIENT, TO SOME DEGREE. I just have to get past the idea that all this technolog is nowhere near perfect, as I am sure you are finding with the pod. the Dex is no better, and, iin some cases, even worse! There are some GREAT thinjs about it though, so move forward! (ALWAYS FORWARD)_. i also like the idea of the integrated Pod/Dex supposedly coming out soon...But, Dex will have to improve the accuracy tenfold before this wil ever work! But, as I said...ALWAYS FORWARD!

It feels ok so far, the kiddos have to be a bit careful with it at times. I would like something over it (like a wrap) to protect it a bit better. I'll know after I sleep on it tonight if I can hang with it. It is a relief not having it on the tummy right now. :)

Pod is on the arm! Pod is on the arm! Look at me! Pod is on the arm! (new song). The interesting thing is I was tromping around West Texas with the in-laws letting it all hang out and showing them the thingy and telling them about it... it went well. I was proud of myself!

Good for you Shadow! Yes, the Omnipod is new for me too, but I definitely intend to be out there with it and show it to the world (and talk about it with whoever is interested) becuase it keeps me alive and 'normal'. (hehehe) Yes, we can do this together. Be proud of controlling this disease and do not let it control you. The technology is pretty amazing to help us out here. I didn't have much help (online) when I was diagnosed 15 years ago. Its so cool who you meet and what you learn here now!!! :)
