Non-Pumpers

I resisted getting a pump for years because I was afraid it would be visible under my clothes. I was uncomfortable with people knowing that I had diabetes. Now, I really don't care who sees it. I'm...

CareLink Software and Mac Compatibility. Or lack thereof.

Yep, Carelink works with Vista. I run Vista (in Boot Camp on my Mac) and use Carelink to upload all of my data.

I'd definitely follow-up with the trainer. One of my favorite quotes: "the squeaky wheel gets the grease."

I say it too, Scott. Since I've used both MM and Dex, I have no problem saying that MM's product is extremely inferior to DexCom's in every way. It wasn't a training issue for me; I had all the training that was offered by MM. It was an accuracy,...

Sophie, I'm not all that slender, and the MM sensors hurt me, too. I had half a dozen (at best) that didn't hurt during or after insertion. Don't even get me started on the bleeding . . .

Your three reasons are why I jumped the Minimed CGM ship and went over to DexCom. As someone who has used both (used MM for over a year), I KNOW that DexCom has the superior technology. One of my main reasons for getting a MM pump was the wireles...

I had the worst low of my diabetes life last Friday night. I wrote a blog about it because it was sooo terrible. I think lows are one of the hardest parts of being a T1 diabetic. I'm so afraid of them that I always under bolused (because I'd rath...

Shannon,

Glad to help! Sephora has a program they call "V.I.B." and the certificate to get the 20% off is emailed to those members, it's really just a rewards program for anybody that spends more than a couple hundred bucks per year. You probably have the cert in whatever email addy you use for this sort of thing. If you don't have one, I can email mine to you. They can be used multiple times throughout the weekend (so Chloe & I can use it Friday and you could use it Sat or Sun, no limit on # of uses) and are good on anything & everything, in-store & online. Great to kick off some holiday shopping with!

Enjoy the party and I'll think of you as i search for the "perfect" pair of black suede round-toe high-heel platform pumps to wear with a couple of Adrienne Vittadini pencil skirts I just picked up at a steal of a price!

Hang in there, Shannon. Im doing well, thanks for asking. Got my daughter a new guitar yesterday ... it is rather a thing of beauty, unfortunately my wallet is no longer in that category! Oh well ... it's only money, right?

Here's to hoping your highs & lows level off more today. I'm guessing that yesterday's stress levels were probably not particularly helpful!

BTW, I know you're into shoes, but if you're also into Sephora ... their 20% off event runs tomorrow thru Sunday. It's a fairly rare event, and one I expect to check out this Friday with my daughter ... we've always got room for one more if you're in need of a little "retail therapy". If not, take care & I'll talk with you soon.

Shannon,
I have VIVA Health. I do not know how difficult this will be....time will tell. I know that getting VIVA to cover this will not be easy.
Thanks for replying to my message. So many times you say exactly what I'm thinking....except you say it much better than I ever could!
Thanks,
Amy

Shannon,
Did your insurance cover your Dexcom? I have applied for insurance coverage, but have not heard back yet. If your insurance does cover your costs, what were the conditions, and if not, how much does it run you monthly????
BTW...Today's blog was fabu!!!! :)

I'm sure RI (and your family, of course) would be thrilled if you visited!

Johnny Rockets did not sponsor us, but actually, we didn't ask. We SHOULD have. Don't know what I was thinking! (although can't imagine a place like Johnny Rockets could in good conscience support the diabetic cause given their menu!)

Also, I should tell you that I am a avid reader of your blog! I guess I'm what you call one of those "invisible" readers, since I just read but don't comment! I hope you don't mind! I love your stories!

Hey! Did you go to school in Providence too? Where'd you go?

Oh, Thayer street. It used to be more fun before diabetes! My group of friends and I love Johnny Rockets so much that our diabetes walk team was called "TEAM JROCK."

That should give you a picture of my Thayer street activities!
