Hey Shira - thanks for the friends add. Quebec is still in the Stone Age for coverage for our insulin pumps. If your work insurance covers it, then you'll be alright (my husbands paid 80% of pump, and 100% for supplies - unlimited!). There is a study being done right now in Quebec, but with children. So, it may or may not go the same route as Ontario did originally, pump coverage for children was only available, THEN they realise - hey - adults would do better with being on pumps. Only suggestion I could say to you, is live on the border of QC/ON (we've looked at Cornwall) - and at least you'd have coverage, plus some good endos there (trust me - as retirement comes for hubby in 7 years - moving to Ontario looks better and better - plus our sailboat is in Cornwall).

When I was a porter on CNR, my memory of the little guy that used to sell papers,at PORTAGE & MAIN, the wndiest corner in Canada, reember the floods in WINNIPEG and filling sandbags to hold back water from the FORT GARRY building.. I am a computer rookie, insulin-dependent since 1977 and a ROLE MODEL to over 40.000 diabetics and have found a way to share my wisdom and mentoring with new members of this website and I ask them, " WHAT DO YOU NEED IN YOUR AREA, TO IMPROVE YOUR DIABIABTES PREVENTION & AWARENESS PROGRAM? also "WHAT DO YOU KNOW? Would it be possible as a free lance photographer to put together a collage of pictures showing people with diabetes doing extraorinary things and accommplishment, and at the viewing of these people say , "WHAT DO THESE PEOPLE HAVE IN COMMON" This could be inspiration to those that think having DIABETES is a death sentence. In your teaching profession, you cam tell your pupils that "THE PERSON WHO KNOWS MOST ABOUT THEIR DIABETES WILL LIVE THE LONGEST. I feel we can be good friends and you have a tool, where pictures are thousands of words I am a 91 going on 60 that is a student of UNIV OF HARD KNOCKS, where there is NO GRADUATION DAY, and you NEVER, finish your apprenticship. and realize how little I know and yet to learn.
