Hei, takk for tips under bloggposten min ang.nattlig følingsanfall, jeg gikk faktisk på lantus da anfallet skjedde i fjor sommer. Nå bruker jeg pumpe og det virker som det er det riktige for meg ettersom jeg kan justere basaldosene etter mine behov.

Er interessert i tipset ditt om karbohydratredusering på dagtid, det er jo mange her inne som sverger til lav-karbo, men jeg har ikke tatt det steget. Jeg spiser for det meste komplekse karbohydrater og ca.100g per dag (+ ekstra for evt. følinger).
Det virker ikke som om lav-karbo er et fokus innen det norske helsevesen for type 1'ere da både min ernæringsfysiolog og lege synes jeg allerede spiser 'lite' karbohydrater. Har du gjort dette i samsvar med helsepersonell, eller etter eget initiativ? Og hvor lite kabohydrater klarer du deg på?

Hi Sharin! Little late in my response. I haven't been on the site in a while :-) Curious to hear how things are going with you or to chat with you more. Any magic treatments to handle weight gain?

Hi Sharin,
Nice to meet you. I started on 10 U of Lantus/day and that, with a low-carb diet and exercise, gave me great results for about 1.5 years. I had an A1c of 5.4% with that regimen. Then the doctor put me on Humalog to supplement and I began increasing my carbs a little. At the same time my job got really stressful and I don't know if it was that or if the honeymoon just ended, but I started needing Humalog at every meal. Now I use 10 U Lantus/day and 2-3 U Humalog per meal. So overall I have 16-20 U insulin/day. Overall that's still pretty low. I've heard that the honeymoon phase can be extended by eating low-carb but I'm not sure what the evidence is for that.

Do you have GAD65 antibodies or islet cell antibodies?

How lovely that you live in Norway. I've always wanted to visit there. When I was a young girl my piano teacher made me play a lot of Grieg and that got me thinking that Norway must be a special place. :)
