Ive been taking cinnamon for about 6 months. My doc said the same thing, its unproven but it can't hurt. Its cheap enough from the company I order from in the US (Bronson), so I just take it anyway. And like Anna said, cinnamon burps are better th...

Don't eat anything the rest of the night. If you can get some exercise, maybe 30 minutes worth, your BG should decrease.

Make sure you WASH your hands each and every time you test, it makes a huge difference!

Thank you for posting. It was after midnight and I couldn't call my doctor and I was freaking out, but I hate emergency rooms and wasn't even sure this would be considered an emergency--actually, I'm still not sure. I looked online and found vario...

Sophie, First of all, remain calm.. You're not going to die from one BG close to 200. Yes , stress can affect your numbers that's why it's important to keep daily stress to a minimum. The high reading could be from something you ate that was high...

I don't know if this is a medical emergency or not. I checked my blood sugar a few hours after eating and it was higher than it has ever been--160. Then I checked it again an hour later and it was 168. I got really freaked out and thought the mete...

Oh your profile pic with you cat is so cute. For a second, before I came to your Home Page to check out the full sized version of your cat - I thought it was a Scottish Fold - but it looks like a regular fun loving fur ball (like mine - they are all strays that happened to knock on my back door - and decided they liked the place and the maid service they get from myself and my hubby).

Sophie you usually do not have to pinch up skin, but if you're bruising you might want to try it. I have to most of the time too.

Yes, I was in "denial" about my T2 diagnosis, and went through a brief phase about "maybe they switched my blood sample by mistake" but after testing my postprandial levels, I knew I wasn't normal. Plus 3 years ago my family doc told me I was glucose intolerant after an oral glucose test (pre-diabetes). Sometimes with a meal of pasta or rice, I can go up as high as 183 one hour after. My 1st insulin phase is definitely impaired. Plus my father who has a BMI of 20 is also T2 and my older sister who is very skinny is also glucose-intolerant. It just runs in my family. Blasted family genes!! So I get mad when people say stuff like being T2 is one's own fault. I don't think anyone with a chronic disease "deserves" to be labeled as such.

Thanks for adding me as a friend, Sophie! Nice to see another T2 with good A1C. After I use up my Advocate meter & Accu-Chek strips, I'm moving on to FreeStyle Lite. Has your experience been positive with it? It's pretty accurate, right? Because I've had weird results with Advocate & Accu-Chek Compact, one is really "off".

Thanks for the response on the metformin. I wanted to get off of it because it seems to be throwing off my hormones. I do see 10-20 point BG improvement on it though, both fasting & post-prandial. Why did you switch to Byetta?

Hi Sophie, welcome to TuDiabetes. I was reading your blog about "borderline" type 2 with interest -- How long have you been on Metformin? I am taking Metformin currently, but am trying to wean myself off of it eventually.

Hi Sophie, welcome to TuD! My uncle was recently told he was not diabetic, even after having a random blood sugar of 12. He exercised, lost weight and saw a dietician, and got his sugar under control again. I hope it works out for you! Keep up the good work with your working out!
