How did you find out about us? What were you searching for?
I'd visited DD, and was banned within an hour.

They misunderstood my offer to help other forum members as a solicitation, edited the intro post and my profile's sig file, and generally acted like jack-boot Nazis.

Jenny suggested this site. I'm hoping for an open forum where people can discuss and be themselves without fear of being treated like underlings, censored at whim. Hopefully this will be that place.

If any of you need help with web pages, SEO, or writing, get ahold of me. I'm happy to help, within reason, of course.

If you want to know more, visit my site, spectrewriter.com , or write me here.

Bit of Wisdom for the day:

ALWAYS bring your BG meter with you, even if you only intent to go a short distance to the store. All too often, one thing leads to another, you miss your med time, feel off, and without the meter you won't know which direction your BG is going. (When in doubt, add fast carbs. It's EXTREMELY unlikely that you'll be harmed by adding, but if you're hypo and don't get some sugar going, you're in deep dung. )

Peace & Creation,

JT

This is SO outrageous, JT! These are some of the kinds of things that are so completely wrong about the health care system in the US.

I think Freestyle has a program to help with the cost of strips. This is the # on the back of my meter 1-888-252-5226. Call and ask if they have a program to help and they should connect you. I got a card from them about a year ago and then found ...

I like the idea of cauliflower-based tortillas!! And yes, I am working full-time and do not have much time to mess around with recipes, though some sound good. I agree that so-called "diabetic" foods are too high in carbs and follow the ADA high-c...

I was successful with the Atkins diet years ago (BD; before diabetes)... but took a good thing too far. I found I didn't much mind the Induction phase, so I kept on doing it. Extra inches were melting off! After about 5 months of that, though, I n...

Salam;

thanks for the comment.
Myself am Type 1 diabetic since 27 years now.

Type 1 Diabetic is insulin independent.
You are right saying that you cannot manage type 1 diabetes through diet alone. This is correct.

But diet ; a low carbohydrate diet influences the blood sugar in type 1 diabetics as well as in type 2 diabetics.
If you read my PDF posted in my profile ; you can see the recent studies on this. It is very interesting ; and in case you want to self experiment it ; please read Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution. He is a must read for all diabetics. Himself has type 1 diabetes since 65 years and through self experimentation discovered the importance of low carb diets for diabetics.

The less carbs you eat; the less insulin you inject. ( Insulin converts carbohydrates into fat = called fat building hormone ) the less carbs you eat ; the less your blood sugar rises... etc...

Please check out Dr. Bernstein Diabetes Solution ( google it ) it will change your life.
