wow. I flew Jet Blue and had no problem at all. I would call Insulet and ask them to get involved- write a letter or call on your behalf

It sounds like you have a very bright and strong son. I was diagnosed at 17 years old and wasn't as together as he seems to be at 10. To me it's his body and he has to wear it and manage it and because he sounds so extraordinary maybe he knows wha...

my insurance company considers it a durable medical device and I have to have it's necessity reevaluated every three months. Perhaps there will be a way to solve it with recycling or simply just language.

I carry two around with me and haven't had any problems with them. One is floating around at the bottom of my purse :(

I just had one pod do this. The first time it's happened for me. Omnipod replaced it. I also had a difficult time removing the insulin from it. It bent the syringe and had a very strong vacuum as well. Interesting. I had a bunch of failures happen...

I hope you get better soon. I know a diabetes nurse from Tennessee who had no clue what the Omni Pod was. I spent a solid hour at a reunion explaining it to him. For the rest of the weekend whenever he saw me he'd talk to me in a robot voice.

yes. I did what Tammy did- considered it a 500. I also give myself a few units by injection when this happens as for me it brings it down faster than the pod. hope you feel better soon.

Way to hang in there.

"What's the big deal?" she said

I am a big coffee drinker. I literally felt faint when my doctor told me that coffee can impact my bg negatively. So maybe I have three cups a day. Sometimes four. It's my last vice. I have a five year old daughter and I need coffee.

There is a coffee chain I go to that serves a blended coffee drink regular or sugar free. I ordered a sugar free iced blended mocha with an extra shot of espresso. I first asked to see the nutritional breakdown to make sure sugar free is really sugar free. It was.… Continue

You REALLY have Type 1 diabetes

I went to my doctor this week and all is well. My A1C is down another .4 to 7.6 and my doctor said it would be down another 1.5 above that if it weren't for my unreliable pump system. I am almost back to the high 5 low 6 range I have always been in. It's a relief to see my hard work paying off but also angering because of how unreliable my pump is. It's my first pump and I love the freedom of it. My doctor tells me that it shouldn't be this unreliable and wants me to get rid of it but I am dedic… Continue

just a funny story...

So my insurance company forces me to order my maintenance medications via a mail order pharmacy. It's a battle every time I have to order- just logistically a pain. I also don't like my insulin showing up in a freezer pack and left at my door. It's never cool to the touch when it arrives and I just worry about it's effectiveness being compromised. I've never had a problem but it still bugs me.

This afternoon I am ordering refills via an automated system on the phone. I am trying to enter the rx… Continue

Why is diabetes considered a punch line?

Years ago ( 15+) when I was first dating my husband, he took me to a performance by one half of one of the most successful comedy teams in history. It was a comedy/music extravaganza! It was almost a deal breaker in our relationship. It was that bad. The men I usually dated at that time took me to Beastie Boys concerts or away for the weekend to Vegas. Not to see some bloated egomaniac that told his last funny joke 40 years ago. Half way through the show, this comedian makes some lame joke about… Continue

worn out

Some days I just feel worn out. I get tired of the daily pain of diabetes. My fingertips hurt from testing my BG. My arm and back hurts from the Omni Pod pump. My stomach has bruises from taking shots of Symlin. I am bruised and banged up. My skin is irritated from the pod adhesive. I have checked my BG so many times today that the last lancet stab didn't even heal and a tiny red speck appeared next to the latest one. I have bloodstains on the pages of the latest book I am reading. From flipping… Continue

Hope you had a semi-okay day yesterday. Sorry I did not comment to you yesterday but I had a super busy day. I am sure it was a bit of an emotional day… Spooky, you seem to be doing very well after 23 years of Type 1 Diabetes. Eyes, kidneys and legs all intact, right? What more can you ask for besides a new pancreas.

Well, I am in the middle of rebuilding my page... I get tired of the same page after a while. Nothing worse in life than a stagnant social networking page. I will put my playlist back up in a few moments.

How is your week going?

Hey, Hope you are having a great weekend? I know you do a lot of photography. I purchased a beginner DSLR camera this weekend. I have been tinkering with it since yesterday. I have recently found out how powerful and entertaining a photo can be...thus me buying a camera, lol. If you do not mind me asking, what kind of camera do you use?

Yes, you are right... I also heard Ad-Rock has Epilepsy. Many years ago he had a problem with the stage lighting system, resulting in a seizure. I could be wrong.

Noticed in your blog post that you said you were pug crazy and had to come see if you had photos of your pugs. Adorable! I'm crazy about my little girl Pippi and am always excited to see someone else with a black pug.
