Did your insurance company change its policy? Is your CGMS being covered? I have Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield and it's never been an issue...... always covered.

Hi Stacey,
I noticed one of your posts regarding Metformin. I've been wondering if it would be a good treatment option for me. My Endo seems to think it 's only effective for treating Type 2. I'm just curious what it's been like for you.

Hi Stacey, yeah, the reason I'm on Metformin is to help me lose weight which, obviously, reducing my insulin dose is helping me with!

I agree Stacey! Preparing for pregnancy is hard work! Good to know that I am not alone!

Keep me posted on how you are doing!

My major project is to bring my A1c down from 7.9. I was under 7 last year. Then tried to get under 6, but ended up at 7.9. Oops.

Hi Stacey,
I have the POS plan. The guy I spoke to verified that I would be paying 90% after meeting my $100 deductible, sounding like Dexcom is in-network...otherwise out-of-network would be paid at 80% after meeting a $300 deductible.

My husband called Dexcom yesterday and the rep gave him codes to ask Keystone about; maybe you can call Keystone and reference these? It may make it easier for them to give you the correct information. The Dexcom rep called them "HCPC codes," and they are A9276, A9277, A9278.

I have high hopes, but I need to see it to believe it! ;)

Hi Stacey, I wonder if it has to do with the whole HMO/POS/PPO thing. I was connected directly with my company's insurance line. I'm going off what the Keystone agent told me yesterday afternoon, after putting me on hold for 10 minutes (maybe he was speaking to a supervisor?). He said, "We cover invasive CGM systems, but not non-invasive" (meaning they cover the systems with the sensor going under your skin but not the experimental "wristwatch" type of monitors). I asked if they covered any particular brands, and he said, "No, we don't limit you to any one brand."

I'm hoping this guy was actually correct. There's a thread on the forum about BCBS of Illinois approving the Dex as of 3/1/09, so I'm hoping it's across the board for ALL BCBC plans!
