Hello, Sweet Fur!

I always explore the folks (like me) who have a dog for their avatar, and I saw that you are in Richmond, VA. I am in Mechanicsville, where in Richmond are you? Who is your endo? What is your Golden's (I'm guessing) name? He/she is beautiful, would love to meet him/her. My dog's name is Brady (like the Quarterback from my hometown in NE). Just sent a "friend" request, dont worry, I'm not a stalker or anything!See More

Insulet does it again!

My love/hate relationship with Insulet goes on still! I had been receiving WAY too many shipments of PODs so I called Insulet and cancelled the "auto - ship" program, then they started billing me for six cases of pods! I called them again explaining that I would NOT pay for unordered merchandise, this meant nothing to them, as I received yet ANOTHER BILL two days later! So, I sent a letter and copied my lawyer explaining the entire situation. They then CALLED ME and the rep on the phone…See More

Do you want to feel less burned out by this filthy disease? Just watch tv for a while for the latest "Accu-check Nano" commercial on tv. It is an ad for a blood glucose monitor (yes, that's right....a blood glucose monitor) and it has a background song sung by a chipper, sounds too young and cute, little girl: "Accu chec Nano- feels so right!" You got it...it "feels so right!" Every time I see that commercial I cant help but think "Oh, yeah! Each time I stab myself to draw blood it could not…

The "Bon Secours" Health System is Nieither!

Posted on April 3, 2012 at 12:47pm 0 Comments

Living in Richmond, VA, I am subject to using the "Bon Secours" (Good Help) health system, which, unfortunately, I have nothing good to say about. They were great (medically speaking) when I was hospitlized for months after my diabetes - related stroke in 2005, but they are terrible when it comes to administration, especially their finance dept.. I was back in the hospital (another Bon Secours hospital) last year for more sugery (again...diabetes related) and though the surgery went without…

Thanks for the encouragement about the cataract. My vision is now 20/400+ in that eye, so hope the lense replacement improves my vision tremndously (I have scar tissue over the retina again, so may need another ERM peel after that). My A1C fluctuates from 5.8 into the mid 6's. It will be high this time due to hormones and going from extreme insulin sensitivity to insulin resistance the past 7 weeks. All we can do is keep trying. Wow, so many vitrectomies. Were they due to blood, retinal detachment, or ???? I am new to this site, so hope I answered where i should be answering. Love the "puppy".

Hey Steve -

Hope you are doing well. Saw your post on the OmniPod group site about a back to back pod failure--one during a reservoir fill. I wanted to share with you that I have had back to back to back failures when filling with refrigerated insulin, and zero while filling with room temp insulin. Just wanted to throw that out there in case refrigeration may be a factor for you. Erik

Well, we watched the Vikings screw up (well, I did more than my husband - he'd go fishing, I'd watch football....ha!). I watched the Packers when they were aired here. If they played the same time as the Vikings, only the Vikings game would air. Kinda sucked, as I'd much rather watch the Packers. It's hard watching a team screw up so much (Vikings). Oh well. My step-daughter and cousin are big Packers fans, as well as all of my step brothers. I think we need to change teams....ha!

I should change my profile..ha! I just switched from the Ping to the Omnipod. I was getting so sick of tubing and having something clipped to my pocket, I even considered going back to MDIs. I didn't think I could get the Pod because of insurance, but my insurance didn't have a problem with it (I had gotten my second Ping just two years ago - though I had to wait the full 4 years). So, I'm brand new to the Omnipod and just put on my third one today.
