Re: Join JDRF for a Promise Meeting with Senator Menendez!

Posted on November 17, 2009 at 8:30pm 1 Comment

I am participating in this meeting Tuesday, Nov 24. in Newark NJ with US Sen Robert Menendez (D-NJ). I've never done anything quite like this before, so it's sort of exciting. I am especially happy to be participating as an adult who has "juvenile" diabetes. I know that the senator is a friend to diabetics. Wish me luck in representing us!

I am tired

1) I have not been active at TuDiabetes for many months, after a long time of being very active.

2) Drugs for my kidney tranplant are now myfortic, prograf, bactrim, & calcium (with vit d)

3) i had a bout with a mild strain of C. diff in late fall 2008. Last test on that was negative.

4) I have stomach problems (vomiting) most likely due to gasteopareisis. My diabetes doc has prescribed reglan at meal times for me. I am in care of a stomach doctor (gastroenterologist) for… Continue

I've also written about vacation plans in Nice, Paris and Antalya, Turkey on the Mediterranean Sea. Vacation on the Med Sea never happended due to one thing or the other. HOWEVER, vacation on the… Continue

More Stuff in My Life (Part 2)

Posted on May 11, 2008 at 5:00pm 1 Comment

Our vacation plans have changed, as plans sometimes do.. Instead of a week in June in Nice, France, it is now two weeks in July somewhere TBD around Antalya, Turkey. I got a Hep A vaccine Thursday in preparation for the trip. Hep A vaccine is recommended by the CDC for travel to Turkey. Me being a bit immune-deficient (from immunosuppresent drugs), I did as suggested. My contact at the kidney post-transplant center said that this common vaccine is no problem to me since it is not a live… Continue

"Does it hurt?"

Posted on May 1, 2008 at 10:00pm 1 Comment

When I was brand new to type 1 diabetes so many years ago, the most horrible thing about it was that I had to take shots and that the shots "hurt". Later on when i thought about maybe using an insulin pump, the most horrible thing about it was that I would be attached to this thing all the time.

Today, I was waiting for my lunch to heat in the microwave oven at work. Someone asked me if I took the finger stick blood tests. They asked me if they hurt. From where I am nowadays, a… Continue

may be beyond my convesancy ,but I may pick up in near future, can I exchange my views &
quiries on e.mail correspondance ? In deep my heart I feel I have acquired quite a sharable
knowledge on mamagement of diabetes - especially through insulin management , but there is

Hi Steve, I may be old, but I am slow. Sorry for waiting so long to get back to your friend request. Things have sure changed a lot for us "child" diabetics. I was almost eleven years old before I took the plunge and gave myself a shot. Nowadays the young ones are pumping before they can walk. Let us hope that the technology improves for them as it has over the years for us.
Have a great day. Sam

Thank you for your kind words. Lately the big D has been a small struggle. Luckily I am still mostly complication free. Knock wood... :-)
