Larbabe said… Cool. Mine too. When I was a teenager a young cousin took my first name and spruced it up, started calling me Larbabe. All these years later and I still have the nickname. :)
Larbabe said… Thanks for the thoughtful welcome, Stemwinder. I appreciate it. From your nickname, I bet there's a story there... something to do with watches... perhaps a watchmaker? I was a clockmaker for 35 years. Anyway, thanks very much.

Thank you Stemwinder for the warm welcome. It can be very reassuring knowing that you're not alone out there.

Having really been feeling the strength of my new friends from here and when we go to the doctors; have been asking a lot of questions about this and that where his health is concern. Thanks to all of you for everything that I've been learning through this site. I am the one that is really blessed by the friends and the information that I am finding to help him deal with his diabetics. I also have been a little outspoken at my own group sessions, especially at the cancer one; but not too sure about the RA sessions; been a little quiet.

Sometimes it disturbs me when I see members who feel they have failed. It disturbs me because there is no failure in diabetes; failure only comes when we give up. As long as we strive to do what is necessary we have not failed.
Some Type 2s feel that to go on insulin will be a failure, but it’s not a failure it’s an escalation of the battle. I am a long term Type 2 who is fully insulin dependent, in the minds of some I am a failure because I have to take insulin, I beg to differ. I was…

Do you feel ashamed?.... Well Don’t!.... I repeat Don’t! No one with diabetes should feel ashamed. I have type 2 and to hear some tell it I should be ashamed, well I’m not. I didn’t ask for this disease and I didn’t cause it. Some will say you were overweight so you caused it, Bull Hockey. Being overweight doesn’t cause T2 it only complicates it, but man does it complicate it. If you’re T2 and maybe a little heavy stop being ashamed, be proud, you’re here seeking help and…

I recently wrote a blog titled " Doing T2 Wrong, Ten rules for screwing-up your T2 treatment" before you read this you might want to use this link and read it first. I just want to explain how I went about righting some of those wrongs.
My turn around started in my Doctors office when he said "Gary, Your A1c is in the low teens and it appears that the oral meds are…
