Cataract Surgery

I had cataract surgery on my right eye last Thursday. My doctor had been telling me for 10 years that I had cataracts but they were not bad enough to operate. Well my time was up and now I wish I had done it sooner! My vision in my right eye is so much clearer it is like night and day compared to my left eye (surgery in January for that one). Now when I close my right eye and look through the left, it is like looking through a 1972 headlight that is clouded over. I can't wait for 2 good eyes…See More

Weight Shift

Posted on April 24, 2014 at 5:56am 0 Comments

I had my quarterly Endo visit this week and overall everything went very well (latest A1C = 6.2). I had written down a couple of questions for her and one was concerning my weight gain over the past few months and why my pants don't button so easy anymore. She proceeded to tell me that my weight has not changed at all in the past 4 years! She said that my weight has "shifted"! I hate when that happens. So I guess it's back to planking and situps to un-shift it!

Optimist or Pessimist?

Posted on May 14, 2013 at 1:00pm 4 Comments

When it comes to bolusing are you a pessimist or an optimist? I think that for the first year on the pump I’ve been a pessimist because if I wasn’t quite sure of the carbs in a food then I would bolus less than I should have. I recently went to my endo and she yelled at me to bolus-bolus-bolus for all food that I intake!! Since then my numbers have been better especially when I go out to eat or somewhere else where I’m not quite sure how the food was made. I’ve learned that I must bolus a…

Hi! I actually applied for the Omni pod a couple of weeks ago! after 2 days I got the pump and everything! This Monday I get it set up to practice! and a week after that I actually get the insulin! I am super excited! Especially the way that it is so easy and soo compatible with my life style!I can't wait to get it actually set up! Taking shots 4 times a day and sometimes forgetting is not good and I am ready for a change!

Hi - don't have mine yet, but have been to the hospital today to start the education process. Hospital are still awaiting funding approval - luckily in the UK we don't have to buy medications for diabetes. I am really keen to just get on with it now!! Any negatives?
