something else.... Hope it's all in my head....

Posted on April 17, 2012 at 5:11pm 5 Comments

since having baby Lauren I have been having sore stiff hands and wrists... all day... other miscellaneous aches and pains, knees, balls of feet, and others.... which I am doing my best to ignore.... mostly successfully.

Have started swimming again already nearly 2 weeks and have built up to 800 m/day and will continue. That is good.

My obe recommended to test Uric Acid and CBC. Uric acid high. Was hoping that would explain it all.

Saw Rheumatologist yesterday. Very nice…

Waiting for Baby Lauren - Birth Plan - I am ready

Posted on March 14, 2012 at 8:00pm 16 Comments

I am now 38 weeks and 4 days pregnant and baby Lauren is expected to arrive any day. Placenta is 'mature' and baby is well grown - very active and making sucking and breathing movements. I am asked to walk as much as possible now to encourage labor to start.

This is my second diabetic pregnancy and was much harder to manage than my first. However, I know so much more now than I did then. I was able to manage it with mostly low carb eating and increasingly huge amounts of…

Another Baby Attempt

Posted on July 5, 2011 at 5:37pm 3 Comments

Here I go again.

IUI attempt No. 6 to get pregnant (3rd attempt since the last miscarriage) tomorrow.

There's one really nice follicle on the right. Am going to talk to it a lot in the next days to encourage that little egg on it's way. Am really really really hoping this will be the one.

It's also about 1 year since my diabetes diagnosis!

Finally Have Done It - Why did it take me so long. HAPPY!

Posted on May 18, 2011 at 7:45pm 5 Comments

Finally I have taken matters into my own hands.

I am now taking a combination of Humalog for short acting insulin and NPH for long acting insulin.

I am so happy with this combination. I take 10 units of NPH morning and 10 at night. I've never had a low with this basal level. My fasting levels are now in the 80s.

I am guestimating still how to much humalog - and not testing very frequently (fortunately I am very sensitive to going low and can feel it well in… Continue

Hi ,

You may have noticed TuD hanging around the site. It's his 6th birthday this month, and his big international family of people with diabetes is growing. Our 6th birthday fundraising campaign is on! Every dollar you donate allows TuDiabetes to reach 6 people touched by diabetes, giving them the opportunity to not be alone!

Please consider making a donation, as well as asking your friends and family to give what they can. TuD's birthday party will keep getting more guests as we raise more donations (see top of the home page). Let's help keep our family thriving and growing! Please share this message. Thanks!

Loving the pix of your gorgeous girls! I have a question re the pic of you BF-ing Lauren in hospital. It looks so cozy and comfortable. After 7 months of 8-times-a-day pumping hell, I finally got my daughter to latch on successfully. But so far I can only get her latched on in this rather awkward hunched-over posture. I would love to be able to figure out a way to do it comfortably, and lying down would definitely be a bonus.

Hi Super Sally. Re your status: you sound a bit burned out, and no wonder. But Please be careful. you might need a small bolus even with low carb to feel your best. Take care and be well.

Indeed that's what I meant...Sorry :) My doctor practices at both St Luke's Global Bonifacio and Asian Med Hospital in Alabang. Started with St Lukes QC...but found it too far from my home. Girl...you should be resting up LOL! You just err...delivered a baby! Funny most women prefers the C section saying its much simpler than normal. Im just so glad you and baby L are doing fine.

ps. I also realized (observing from the photo) that we share the same hospital. My doctor also practices at Asian Hospital in Alabang City which I frequent since I live in the south :) Glad you and your baby Lauren is bouncing and safe!
