wishing you a Happy New Year.
That's wonderful progress and must be a great relief.

Hey Susi....thought I'd drop in here and say hello (can't get on your tu.face page for some reason)...and in answer to your question, born and bred in Canada. Childhood in Quebec, French being my first language, moved to Ontario at 11. Love your "made in Chicago".The reason you'd want your daughter to know is that eating a lower carb diet when young and avoiding things, like prednisone, that could significantly worsen control, permanently, might lead to much better control life-long.
Also, if she has something borderline, she is likely to become diabetic within weeks of becoming pregnant, but doctors don't test for gestational diabetes until many months after a pregnancy begins because in Type 2s it takes months to develop. I became diabetic immediately after conceiving and gained almost 60 lbs by 4 months. This wasn't good for my babies, but no one understood what was going on. Because my daughter and her ob/gyn know she already has an abnormality, if she gets pregnant she'll go on insulin immediately, which will be much safer.
My guess is that there are many more of us misdiagnosed as Type 2 who aren't. I was diagnosed as "pre-diabetic" in 1978 when I weighted 108 lbs and went on to have two diabetic pregnancies but no one ever considered that I wasn't "classic type 2" until they finally put me on insulin and I was hypoing on tiny doses.
You might suggest your kids get tested. My 26 year old daughter has elevated post-meal blood sugars in the "pre-diabetic" range despite being ferociously fit so I'm pretty sure she has what I have too.
