Does anyone watch "Army Wives"

Cathy...I know I am getting my younger sister a bracelet or two for Christmas. She's never worn one. I don't know why. She's currently in the hospital.

Suzanne why don't you call your doc and discuss it. If you are really worried about the high sugars and your doc feels like youreally do need the prednisone then why don't you see if you can use a sliding scale insulin during the treatment?

I agree with Gerri about the complex carbs, and I'm a promoter or lower-carb if your current treatment isn't working. BUT in my humble opinion, the right amount of carbs is the lowest amount you can cope with, have energy with, not put on weight w...

That is one of the side effects of steroids. Even those diabetics that do not take insulin may have to use a sliding scale during steroid therapy. Monitior your sugars and if it gets too high call you Dr. If you are on a dose pack the dose should ...

I've been on metformin and actos for over 10 years now. Everybody has an opinion but they aren't doctors, not saying each doctor has a better opinion. So, in my opinion, I think that I was wasting time and money on pills instead of getting on insu...

I was told to eat no more than 30 carbs per meal and a 15 carb snack at night. I have slowly lost 20lbs since my diagnosis in March. To be honest, I don't exercise the way I should so the weight I've lost is all due to the low carb eating. I'm als...

What great advice you are getting, I will just echo some that worked for me. The Metformin does take time to take full effect so be patient. I struggled for a few years until I took control and started not listening to the dietician and cut my car...

I am bewildered. Over whelmed. Want to say Screw it and eat Mexican food (but I wont) with the tequila (but I wont). I think I will have a glass of wine tonight though.

Wow!... crazy story, I am glad you are okay! My wife and I have thought about going to the D. Republic a lot the past few years. I hope it was a nice vacation besides the emergency.

Hi Suzanne,

I read your comment on my string about wierd cravings. I have been on low carb, specifically Atkins induction since I was diagnosed on May 9, 2009. I have a good friend who has been Type 1 for over 50 years and has worked extensively with diabetics of both type. He hates nutritionsts, not personally, but what they are teaching. He put me on low carb and in less than 10 days, took my BS from 267 to 90 and my last A1C was 6.5 after 2 months. My heartfelt and honest suggestion...IGNORE the nutritionists and go low carb. I irritate them but they cannot argue when I pull my blood tests. I effectively silence them.
