Sure-T versus Silhouette

I can't feel the Sure-T's at all once they are in, and the 6 mm needles goes in quite easily. Last week at set change I started to insert and felt instant sharp pain. Must have been a nerve there. ...

Sure-T versus Silhouette

Butting in here, but the IV3000 through Medtronics is $65 for a box of 100. That's the 2 1/4 x 2 1/2 size. That's cash price, but they said my Aetna would cover it, so my part is $6, and 100 packet...

Tape for Sure-T's?

Thanks for the update! Since this post I tried the Tegaderm and another IV3000 sample and I have to say I like the IV3000 better, but the Tegaderm's not bad at all. If my insurance wouldn't cover ...

Sorry, can't answer your question about CareLink. I never use the control solution & don't think many people do. I used to & always had it fall between the range, but became disgusted about wasting a strip. I wonder if this a way to get us to use...

I just started pumping (with insulin) yesterday. I went to class at my dr. office from 9-3. So, today was my first full day on the pump. Its going great! Already I see that it is going to work a lot better than shots as far as being able to fine tune my basal settings. Before, I had an awful time with breakfast/morning numbers being high no matter what I did. I don't find it bad at all to be "attached to a machine" all the time. Especially since I will see how much better my numbers are! How are you doing with your pump? I wanted to let you know, also, that I purchased a SPIbelt and i LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! I have been wearing it to bed and around the house when i have on sweats or pj's with no pockets. Just thought I would share! Hope all is going well with you! :)

Wow, I can't believe they sent you home with insulin right away! Sounds like you are doing good though! :) I have heard a lot of good things on this website about the Sure-T's and it sounds like you like them also so maybe I will give them a try someday. I wish I could try to insert another set but the rep only gave me one (that's inserted right now) and all I have here are the silhouettes which I need to call Medtronic to try to switch out for the Quick-Sets. But even thought i think the cannula is bent I am still liking getting used to carrying it around and having something attached to me all the time. Honestly, its really not that bad! But, one of my fears is that sometime I will go to the bathroom and forget I am attached to it and rip it out or something as I'm pulling down my pants!

Yes, it is very nice to have a buddy on here that is going through the same thing! I go next Tuesday the 29th for the training at my dr. office and that's when i'll start on insulin. I can't wait! Hope all is still going well with you! :)

Hi Tamara!
I had my training on Friday afternoon. The training went great and the rep was super friendly and helpful! I talked to her about my concern with the Silhouettes and she said she thought the Quick Sets were better suited for me. So, she had a sample of the Quick Sets and that's what I put on. It was pretty easy and didnt really hurt at all! The rep left shortly after I inserted the quick set and she told me to just leave it on for 2-3 days and play around with it. After she left i tried to give a bolus and I got a no delivery alarm. I think the cannula got bent when I inserted it becuase if I disconnect and give a bolus, i can see the saline coming out of the end, so i think the pump is working fine but the cannula must have got bent. A little upsetting, but i'm still wearing it to get a feel for it and get used to it. So far I love! I'm so excited to use it for real with insulin instead of saline!

Hi Tamara!

I'm right down the road in Nederland! I've been T1 for 30 years and using a Minimed Paradigm 522 pump for 7 years. I've only lived in SE Texas for 2 years and see Dr. Hood. Who's your endo?

Let me know if you have any questions about the pump, or diabetes in general. I've BTDT!!
