I have had times that my boss came into my office and i was in the middle of a low. I was grumpy and not very friendly when this happens. I really don't feel that is in your control. It is normal for me to get very angry and upset because im low. ...

Just a little about me. I have had diabetes since i was 18 months old. I currently live in Austin Texas. I really love it here.

I love to spend time outdoors anything from running, going to the lake, camping, hiking, yoga, movies, shopping and just having fun. I work for the University of Texas as an Administrative Associate. I basically do event planning, manage accounts payable, back up purchasing and special projects.

I have two dogs Jilly who is my way too energetic Jack Russel Terrier and Leo who is my puppy Rat Terrier. I am soon going to add a new member Gus who is my diabetic alert dog who i should be getting soon. I will be adding pictures of all three of them soon.

I test around ten or more times a day. I am constantly trying to stay up to date on the latest technological things. Diabetes included. I am a very energetic person always on the go but also enjoy some relaxing time when i can get to it. Always up for a challenge.

I love to travel when i can been to quite a few places so far but am hoping to take a trip to Italy in next couple of years.

Great Fear

It has been way too long since i lasted blogged about things. I feel like i have been so busy fighting battles this year and it has really started to make things so complicated. I got notice just before Thanksgiving that the state of Texas is revoking my drivers license for the black out while driving back in June which i blogged about. I was involved in a car accident and did not realize that i had hit anyone. No was injured but it did involve me being chased by several very angry cops who thou… Continue

Update on Ankle Injury

Well good news i just ended up having tendentious instead of having stress fractures which is good much quicker healing time. I do extremely week ankles after being in two aircast boots for three weeks. So i am going to physical therapy to help strengthen my ankles. My first therapy visit was kind of disturbing for me. The physical therapist is like do you have rheumatoid arthritis? I was like i was diagnosed with it as 19 years old my first year of College. I was really good the first year and… Continue

Saved by new ADA law

I have had so many issues at work since i developed hypoglycemia unawareness. I have passed out so many places its not even funny including work. They freaked out after the incident and now i am trying to get protection under the American Disabilities Act.I also have coworkers that are jealous because they say i get extra breaks because one day i had to change my infusion set at work. I went to the doctor and she was supposed to fill out a form about my medical condition. She returned the docume… Continue

Struggles

I had a not so hot AlC that was done in July. It was 8.7 but the good news is that i have gotten it down to 7.1. I am really proud i was able to turn it around. I know the last couple of months my whole goal was to stop passing out from low blood sugars. I felt like i was all over the map. Then i get into September and towards the end of the month i get a cold that had me on the couch for three days and unable to eat anything. I was able to keep down fluids which was good. I know i tried my best… Continue

The Past

I guess with my current issue of stress fractures coming up again. I guess i am beginning to question if some things i have done in the past our coming back to haunt me. I had a couple of years as a teenager where my diabetes was not in perfect control and yes i was fighting myself about being diabetic. My concern goes back to high school and my early twenties where i was extremely obsessed with exercise and dieting. I am not sure if you would call me anorexic but i tend to believe that is the t… Continue

Hi Tarra! Thanks for your comment, and it's nice to meet you. :) And I know the feeling about the need to have backups of backups when it comes to diabetes supplies. I'm like a walking pharmacy most days!

Next week will DEFINITELY be better. :D

Hey Tarra ... I just returned from BethEden last week after spending 15 full days there. It was awesome, Ann and Oscar are just such wonderful people.
Unfortunately, Abbey was a failure. She handled the obedience well, she could pick out my hypo scent (on the socks that I sent as well as another pair of socks from a bad low I had there) but she could not relate it to me. I ended up with only 4 days left and I tried a young golden retriever named Woody.

He is too young to be working as a service dog, she had very little obedience training and next to no scent training. He is doing the job like a veteran ... he alerts me to highs and lows, his obedience is improving every day. I take him to work and you would not know he is there because he is so quiet and laid back.

I also saw and played with Gus. He is a beautiful dog and he gave me a couple of complete face washes.

When I left, Ann had about 30 dogs and 1 of them gave birth to 8 puppies while I was there.

I hope you are going to Canyon to get your dog. You will love the experience and you will learn a lot, not only about Gus but dogs in general.

We are now almost half finished December so you'll be getting Gus soon.

Have fun with him and start resting easily once you have him.
