Omnipod at Beach...

How does everyone cope with wearing their Omnipod at the beach? I've worn it and don't think about it...but going to the beach with friends is different. How do you feel?

Getting my Omnipod Soon

Hey Everyone:
In just a week or so I should be receiving my Omni-pod and am super excited about it! :) No more injections, c'mon now whoever doesn't have it should get up on it. Does anyone have any advice on the "do's and don'ts" of the Omni-pod? I'm a fresh consumer of it and am a little worried about how the cathider is inserted in your body. I understand that it automatically inserts once you program the Omni-pod, however, what does it feel like? Ugh! I'm a little hesitant as to how it will… Continue

Anxious

I'm currently taking 4 Insulin injections daily and it sure is fustrating. I'm so anxious to get my hands on the new "Omni-pod" that has just come out. I have the trial-period free one en route so I can get a feel for it. $700 sure is a lot of money, however, if it means reducing the scars that I get puncturing myself four times everyday....then it's worth it. Does anyone have the Omni-pod? I'd like to know how it operates and how it is in comparison to the Injections. Nevertheless, I'm super ex… Continue

The CDE said pumping insulin was a lot easier. I did not think the saline was bad at all, but when I started insulin I noticed a difference. I think my spot was a little sore with th e saline also. I know you'll notice a difference when you start pumping the real thing. I love my numbers on the pod. They are so much better and we are still working on basal settings. ---I have only had one problem with a pod and it wasn't the pod but the site. I must have some scar tissue or something and was not getting any boluses. It seemed like the basal was being absorbed but not anything else.---Enjoy.

Hey, I too pumped saline first in the Omnipod. I started Oct 10th. My CDE told me that pumping insulin is a lot more comfortable that saline. It wasn't an issue with me at the time because it did not hurt or anything. But now that I'm pumping H'log I can look back and see that there was some discomfort on the saline that I do not feel on insulin.

Hope things are going well. Enjoy the pod.

Hi Tiffany:
I work - part-time in Coconut Creek. The northern most part - just near Boca. I am very happy that I moved down here - it is working out very well for me. Where in NY did you live? I was born in Manhattan, grew up in Queens, moved back to the city as soon as I could, then got married and lived in Fort Lee, NJ for 20 years.
Came to Coral Springs because I have friends from Junior High who live here.
Tiffany - check out the Omnipod Users Board on here - it really is helpful.
And - I love the pod.
One of the things that is really good for me is - I am a nibbler - when taking shots - if I nibble a little piece of something - 1 sugar free cookie or a few nuts or something - it was not enough to bother with a shot - but with the pod - I can just give myself a little bit of insulin - like .20 - it is so easy to do and you couldn't take such a small amount with shots.
I never got a pump before because the thought of it skeeved me. This pod is really not so bad - OK it's not beautiful - but I had been putting cute stickers on mine - I have Koi fish and some that look like tatoos -
my friends think I'm nutz - but it looks prettier.
Have a great day - I'm here if you need someone to talk to.
Susan
