Not at all sure, but could you have retinitis pigmentosa? That's known to shut down night vision eventually, perhpas it just started for you and only affects vision as light levels are varying so much.

Since I just got my new Ping today I was looking around the Animas estore and found the following webpage: https://estore.animascorp.com/ProductDetail.aspx?groupid=182&topcategoryid=5&subcategoryid=14 It's called a "Clip -n Go for 1 Touch Ping", ...

OK, I understand she's new to diabetes, but the reason anyone goes on a pump is to improve control, not reduce it. Fear of hypos is way overblown IMHO. I've been diabetic for over 53 years now, and have long accepted that hypos will happen occasio...

OK, definitely NOT something we should believe or follow. Too easy to find foolish ideas these days, isn't it?

This is absolute nonsense. Don't waste your time. Read this critique of the pseudoscience D'Adamo pushes.

You're quite right about how Glucagon works. The liver only stores so much glycogen (starchy storage form of glucose), which will only go so far. If he's run low more than once before that day it may not do any good, and could lead to a severe pro...

Call them back. If they give you the same answer ask for their supervisor, after carefully recording the name of the first person. If the supervisor can't help you keep going up the chain. Tell them you are also calling your state's insurance comm...

OK, guess I have to answer this, since I seem to be the only Quick around here When I got my first Animas pump 4+ years ago they insisted I go through a training session with the area rep before using it on myself. Happened within a week of gettin...

Yes, I'd say you will likely do better with the lower doses pumps give you. It's also important because it is gradual, and your system may well be reacting more to the large amount you need to put in with just a few shots each day. I've been pumpi...

Phosphorus is a culprit ONLY in colas BTW, since other sodas don't use any AFAIK. Myself I gave up on any and all aspartame use since it causes a (more or less) allergic reaction. Tested this in 1986 when I finally realized that my bg went higher ...

Quite right. Chocolate is NOT a reasonable thing to use for hypos since the fat can slow absorption so much that it doesn't raise bg until AFTER your liver releases an overdose of glycogen to bring it back up, THEN the chocolate finally adds a hig...

I wouldn't be surprised if starting hormonal changes going into puberty is the real problem, happens to many at about that age, BUT of course he might be getting more "independent" about what he eats, keeps track of or whatever. Seems that is very...

I just talked to them about this the other day, since I found my new health insurance plan will pay 100% and not leave me paying $3000 deductible, apparently including a CGM system. Anyway I was told that the combined Animas Ping/Dex7 system is ex...

I saw that book or a similiar one in Barnes and Noble last night. That's really interesting. I wonder if there is any validity - I can't say that such a thing ever crossed my mind. I would love to know if any one has actually tried this.

Another factor that many never hear about. NPH may have widely varying activity schedules. Most often happens after long term use, but has been know to happen to some people right from the start. That's part of why Lantus and Levemir were created ...

Oh my goodness -- now I've become one of those people who ask "Do you remember me?" :-( 2 questions to test MY memory -- Have you always used Theodore (ever a short form?) and have you always lived in Ohio?

Hi
I remember your name from a diabetes ListServ years ago when I was considering starting to use a pump... Not sure if you have the Type 1 Diabetec memory (apparently a result of zinc suspension insulin in the good old days) but my name would have been Andrea Shea back then. Good to see a name that is familiar to me!

Just read your advise to a Mum here with her young son whose diabetic - and found out your like me - a diabetic of many years (I was diagnosed at 7). I noticed that you originated from Syracuse - I drove by there a few w/e's a go - have friends in Seneca Falls / Rochester area. As a young Canadian - my Mum liked to go to Watertown / Syracuse for American shopping. LOL - good memories. Glad to see that you're enjoying your Animas pump - I just hopped onto the band wagon a year ago - after MDI for many years. The pump is the best thing sliced bread - while I can afford it that is - once retirement sets in - not sure if I'll be able to keep it - but am hoping I can find a way to continue to afford it!!! Our little external pancreas! Take care and stay healthy!
