Good luck! I've also had trouble finding insurance. I was covered under my fathers while living at home, but now I'm not. I've had to get government help. Ask your doctor if there is any government assistance in your area, like a co-pay plan.

Has your question been resolved , since you posted this ? Is your son pumping ? Are you in Ontario ?

luck finding anything - FlexCare is good in general, but if there are preexisting conditions like diabetes your out of luck for coverage or getting it covered (they do not cover anything for pre-existing conditions - which sucks eggs big time)

Hi Everyone.

My son was diagnosed on thanksgiving 2006, he was 2 years old. Now that he is 3 it has been hard to deal with at times, but it has gotten easier. After a year of being a diabetic i hope we have gotten over the worst part of the disease. The unknowns & the yo- yo bloodsugar levels. His sugar is in range where the doctor wants him to be, and he is checking his own bloodsugar, which is great.I'm very proud of him.He is my little man.

Hi Tiffany,

We are in Welland, how funny is that? My son Sam was diagnosed in the spring of 06. It's been pretty rough. I'm wondering if you know very many other families locally that have kids with type 1. I think it would be good for Sam to get together with other kids with D. What do you think?

Hello! I see that you are a nascar fan! I'm a Greg Biffle fan myself! Unfortunately we have another thing in common - having a child with diabetes. It is hard at times to deal with (more so for the parents than the child), but we just have to push forward! My daughter was dx this year. She is two years old and is considered still honeymooning.

My son was diagnosed a year ago when he was 9 yrs of age. We have no family history of type 1 in our family either. Wow very cool that he is testing his own blood sugar at three!! I'm impressed!

Welcome, Tiffany! I see that you found Tu Diabetes by searching for Safe Sittings. I'm an editor for dLife and we did a segment on Kimberly Ross and her Safe Sittings program. She has a terrific program that she's created!
