Story

My daughter Tara was diagnosed 2 years ago at the age of 11. It was the worst thing that ever happened to us, then became the best thing (in a strange way). We have become a closer family, it put all our priorities in order, and reminded us what is important in life.

I am here to become more active, vocal and informed about Diabetes issues, and the search for "the Cure".

Oh and Tim... I am still crying (like right now). It is very hard because I cry at times when I do not want to cry!!!!! It especially happens when someone asks how Jillian and our family are doing and I know that they really do care. That always sets me off. I am a cry baby anyway and now it is just crazy! Anyway I guess that there would be something wrong with me if I didn't cry. Take Care,
Leah

Tim thanks for the message. Very cool that you have a "Leah". It's not too often that I find that. Jillian is very positive like your Tara. She says that she would rather have diabetes than not because it makes her special. I have to agree. All of our kids are special just in different ways.
We would love to meet your family sometime. Thousand Oaks is not too far from us. If your ever in Bakersfield, not that you would ever have a reason to be Ha-ha but the invitation is very much extended to you. Take care. Leah

Hi Tim, I just watched the video about Tara and her omnipod. I will show it to my daughters tomorrow. Jillian was diagnosed 12-10-08 and we will be going tomorrow to see the CDE about Jillian's new medtronic pump. I'm sure that seeing Tara's video will help my daughter feel more at ease with it all. Just wanted to say that thanks for the help and please pass the message to Tara.
