Just want to second the 'washing your hands' advice. I would think that residual food or anything else you might have on your hand could throw the readings way off. As with everything else that I do so compulsively :-) I test exactly the same way...

Meters used to be a lot more accurate, took longer to register readings & needed larger blood samples. We've traded size & speed for accuracy. Amazing that your meter was that close to the lab reading. I had four different meters (freebies) & tes...

Visit with the Endo

Well yesterday I had a visit with my endo just to see how life on the pump was going. We spoke about how I should keep an eye on the weight gain (+6lbs), and if I had any questions or concerns about the pump. The only thing that I did bring up to her was that during one of my infusion set changes I think I must have hit a vessel or something because when I pulled out the canulla I had a bleeder. Very weird but was told it was normal if you hit something. It had been a while since my last a1c and… Continue

SO here it goes...

Well this is my first entry kind of exciting to think many (or no one) will be seeing this. My name is Thomas Moreno and I have been a diabetic since 2002. At first I was taking MDI but as of July 23, 2007 I am now on the Animas 2020 Performance Pump. Since pumping for me I have gained 25 lbs, omg. I am sure aging does not help for me either, but geesh. It is so easy to bolus and eat where before, it was if I eat a shot. I am trying to get the CGMS, it was denied now I have to appeal, what fun. (not) I have a friend on the CGMS and he loves it. Stay healthy.

Welcome Thomas. Glad to see you found us. It is a great community with a wealth of knowledge. I know exactly what you are saying about your wife. I feel the same way about mine. She has really kicked my butt into gear.

Take care and stay in control

Welcome to the TuDiabetes "familia"!! :)
(hablas español?)

Here are a few tips on how to make the most of the site.

If you find the community useful, I'd be honored if you could link to us on your blog/site if you have one or invite family, friends, colleagues and anyone whom you feel may benefit from it.

BTW, if you know of any other folks back in San Antonio who would rather take part in a Spanish-only community, please let them know about EsTuDiabetes.com, our sister Spanish-speaking community. It's smaller in size, but it will soon be as vibrant as TuDiabetes, I am sure.
