Joe, good to know someone's mom else had this stuff. People look at me like I'm nuts when I talk about gagging down a teaspoon of cola syrup. We never had soda growing up. My mother knew it was junk. Coke started out as a health tonic. Funny to th...

Coke isn't the only villian ! All soft drink should be removed from our diets including diet ones. I also remember the coke syrup too! Mom always kept it on hand for upset stomaches.

Whoa! Glad I never liked sodas. When I was a kid, my mother gave us syrup of cola to settle upset stomachs so Coke always reminds me of being carsick.

Type 2 diabetic gets great offer on life insurance

Just placed inforce a term policy on a 55 year old diabetic with neuropathy. Client was Type 2 with mild neuropathy and sleep apnea diagnosed 7 years ago and was compliant with CPAP machine. Also being treated for acid reflux and high blood pressure.

We had originally gotten his policy approved with an A+ rated company at two tables substandard due to the neuropathy. This year we submitted a positive health request newly offered by another… Continue

New Life Insurance underwriting just confirmed

This is breaking news and really only applies to a very limited scope of diabetics. One of the premiere life insurance companies just confirmed they are taking a select group of diabetics at the best rate class available.

From email:

If your client is medically assessed as a true Standard rate(+25 or less), without credits being applied, then they are eligible to receive what ever Preferred rate class they would otherwise qualify for. With diabetics this will only happen at the olderContinue

Diabetes and Life Insurance

I sell Life insurance and I specialize in diabetics. I was trying to do some research on a client of mine and more specifically trying to understand how her doctor is managing her condition and I stumbled across this community. I did a quick search about life insurance to see how you were fairing and realized that insurance is like diabetes, what you don't know is what is killing you.

I see a lot of people trying some much fruitless ways of trying to get life insurance. So I decided to sign up… Continue

If you are 50 or more years old, you can join AARP and then apply for the Colonial Penn Life Insurance (on TV all the time). No health questions or physicals. They just followed up with me a few months later to make sure I didn't have cancer. I even admitted to my disabilities and the diabetes.

Thanks Tom - I will discuss with my DH and definitely keep your number for future reference. Hopefully in the near future. We do have a life policy on our children (each about 10K and my parents also have life policies on them) they were created before their 1st birthdays and are able to be taken over when they reach 21 (i think that is the age) So Willow actually has I believe 20K combined that was created before her dx. But I often worry about that for her future. Thanks again for your information. It is something we really need to consider as additional insurance for my DH . . .

Appreciate all your info!

Tom - email me I would like some more information about Life Insurance for my Husband and daughter. Both Type 1. I am not looking for a sales call . . .really just information. Maybe we have done something wrong in the past - but Mark has always been denied or given really rediculous rates. So he has always just taken the max at work . . .which I know may not be sufficient.
He has good A1c's and has recently gone on the pump. He has been Type 1 for about 15 years. He has NO other complications and is generally in really good health. He runs marathons, has never had any eye, or nerve issues . . but yet we have never been given any monthly costs as low as you posted in your blog.

So I would love some more info. . .thanks
Vicki
