- I have been married for over twenty years, have two children, 3 dogs, and a fat cat. I am originally from Minnesota but I have made my home in NC after my husband retired from the military. My blood is very thin now and I know I couldn't handle the cold Minnesota winters!
I am relatively new to the type 1 diabetes game. I was originally misdiagnosed as a type 2 due to my age. But, after a year of unsuccessfully trying to manage my disease using oral medications, diet, and exercise, I was finally given a GAD antibody test that came back positive. I feel very fortunate that I was able to squeeze about 30 extra years out of my pancreas that most type 1's do not get. I am also fortunate that I am able to make a living learning more about my diabetes. I am a RN (in the process of getting my CDE hours)that teaches others about diabetes. It is a win-win situation for me, I learn a lot from other diabetics and through research,and my patients get a nurse who really understands how they feel.
I look forward to meeting new people who are in the same boat as I and to learning new things!

This is a great place to share, to learn, and to grow...all the while meeting new people world wide, and making friends.
Take a peek at some the groups when you get a chance. Just go to the top of your page, and click on "Groups". Once in,
click on "all groups". You can either peruse the wide array of available groups....or simply type a specific interest in the
space provided.
Take in some of the blogs/discussions as well.
The resource boxes at the top of the home "Home" page, and
"About us" at the very bottom of your page and every page (the footer), offer you more information still.
