Diabetes teaches us about interdependence. We all think we are autonomous beings, but we all depend on others. As a diabetic, it's just more obvious. I need refrigeration to live.

YES YES YES! I just started riding to work and back (24 miles each way, it's a haul) and I would LOVE to have a way to mount my dexcom on the bars - right now I keep it in my shorts pocket, but fumbling with gloves on, I'm worried I'm going to dro...

These are federally regulated devices and I am pretty sure mucking with the how they work void any expectation of warranty or legal responsibility on the part of the manufacturer.

My last box of sensors has been a total dud. I am wondering if they have a quality control issue at the moment - up until now, my Seven+ has been pretty accurate, once it gets dialed in, after the first day or so, But last night it gave me a 43 wh...

Deborah, this document published by Dexcom might shed a little more light for you: http://www.dexcom.com/pdf/DexPatientTips030609-Rev01.pdf This is what I was referring to: "Calibrate when the Receiver asks you to or a minimum of once every 12...

I hadn't heard that it's best just to calibrate when is asks for a reading. I'd been told the more you enter, the better. Tell me more about what you know. Thanks

Yeah, did the mistake of overcalibrating once too, but I was at the end of week 2 and so I decided to change sensor anyway. It's definitely best to follow the advice of the box, and only insert a reading when asked to. Have you tried to get in t...

It was pretty new - 3 days - but I was on board a boat in the middle of a tropical storm (interesting time). I certainly got wet on the outside, but my foulies kept me pretty dry... maybe it was more the general dampness of the situation. I calibr...

My question would be. Did you calibrate the dexcom. I would have calibrated it with the 100 point difference. I actually find a lot of times just a general restart when it is off and can't find it's way works to fix the problem. Wendy

How old was the sensor, Tony? I have this kind of behaviour only when the sensor is about to give up, which lately has been in the middle of week number 3, not too bad... Also, did you take a shower or went to pool during the weekend? I have noti...

The first 24 hours on my sensor tends to be pretty erratic - but then, by the second day, it gets pretty dialed in. So maybe... patience, grasshopper? ;) There's a learning curve with this thing, for sure. I hated mine at first, and now I feel we...

Hi everybody - So - over the weekend, my Seven Plus was giving me crazy readings - lots of highs and lows; I thought I was doing a terrible job of controlling my BG for some reason. But I noticed that my fingerstick readings were getting farther ...

I want to hack my device. But not for fun. I just think that the user interface sucks. I just posted this before I read your post: "...my Minimed Paradigm, shows me when i'm trending up or down, but there is no alarm or vibrate to call it to my a...

I'd be interested in knowing as well. If I have some spare time at work I should dig out the spectrum analyzer and see if I can pick anything up. I also have thought about having a go with the firmware on my animas 1250. the interface design is n...

Thanks for the reassurance - I hope yours decides to get its act together soon! ;) My levels leveled out finally yesterday - though at my new dosage levels (might be the end of my honeymoon). My pump came last week! Training starts on Tuesday, an...

I had planned on going to physician's assistant school at Emory until I found out how much tuition was, hahaha! I go to Argosy University (formerly known as Georgia School of Professional Psychology). I finish this June with my master's in community counseling.

How long will you have to wait for the results on the C-peptide? Have you chosen which pump you want to get?

Gaah - numbers just KEEP CREEPING UP

I guess the party is over -

Just starting yesterday, my BG is continually creeping up - I have increased my Lantus to 12 units, and my carb correction to 1u/15g of carbs, yet after meals, I can get it down to 100 or so 3 hours later, sometimes with a little exercise, and then it just starts creeping upwards. Did so last night, it's doing so right now. I'll take a correction, but MAN this is getting annoying. Starting on the pump soon, so I feel like I need to get a handle on this SOON.

Started my Dexcom Seven Plus today

I am cyborg! Started with my Seven Plus CGM today - so far, I've learned that when I eat I drop low for about 15 minutes, then rush up high, then slowly level off. Interesting. Looking forward to the overnight results.

Insurance Follies

Sp get this - my insurance (Aetna) approved me for a CGM - it arrives tomorrow - but Animas is saying they don't think I will qualify for a pump. They had me get a fasting C-peptide test, which came in higher than anyone expected - just within the range of normal, which is great news - I'm still in my honeymoon period... but Animas thinks Aetna won't approve the pump now. Aetna officially requires a C-peptide below 110% of the low end of normal, or presence of beta antibodies, to approve a pump.… Continue

Why so high?

I'm ridiculously high today. Over 200 after lunch. Took a correction, it only dropped me about 30 points. Maybe this insulin pen is a dud? Weirdness. I think I'll go back to my "kiddie pen" that does half units - I seem to do a lot better with it. I hope the pump works out well... days like today are a drag.

Labs tomorrow for my PUMP!

Why am I nervous? I have to get a C-peptide test tomorrow morning for my insurance company, to ensure that they cover my pump. Why should they not cover it? How could I *fail* a blood test? No reason - but still I'm nervous. Silly me. :)
