For many years, I just went to my GP for my diabetes care. Then about 2 yrs ago, I mentioned being ready to take the pump plunge. The Diabetes educator came right out and said "I'm glad you are ready to take the plunge. I would prefer to send you ...

Jolie is right. You really need to go get your A1C checked. Stress obviously has a major impact on your BS's and can have caused you to be high. Have you lost weight? This can also improve your readings as you know! 120 fasting is considered borde...

A good endo is hard to find but I would highly recommend it at least for the first 10 years or so! HA! Take any and all education classes you can. Even with doing everything "right" your blood sugars can wreck havoc with your body. Education is so...

This may just be my opinion, but a condition as complex as diabetes needs to be followed by an endocrinologist. I don't care if you have type one or type two, both have their complexities that an endocrinologist specializes in treating. A general ...

I think it is important for you to have a good relationship with both. My GP suggested my Endo, and I really like him and his team. I was lucky though, You should shop around for an Endo in your area that you are comfortable with. My Endo has a wh...

HI, Tracy. I saw your post about vision in the SW group, but I am not a member. I needed drug store"cheaters" for a couple weeks to watch tv or do some work after my blood sugars were suddenly in control. I went from 400s/DKA to very low numbers in a week! My endocrinologist said that a year is a good amount of time to wait to see if your eyeglass prescription has actually changed. Scary, though!

Hi, Tracy. Welcome to Tu Diabetes. I'm fairly new here myself. I also have type 2 diabetes and use diet and exercise as the main weapons against the A1c. Just a thought to add. I went cold on deserts that contained flour, and sugar (the cakes, cookies, pies, candy, pastries, etc.) I ended up fifty pounds lighter and the A1c went down to 6.0, a respectable reading, I guess. I would like you for a friend as I could tell you more things that might help you over the hump of being "shell shocked" by this devastating illness.

Tracy - welcome to TuDiabetes - it's great to have you join our community! Obviously you can travel around the site - we have several groups dedicated to the T2 lifestyle, with a quadrillion (or so) members happy to offer support & share life experiences. With that said, I do hope you find a sense of family here to take you through your days. I've been a T1 for a hundred years now, (ok, 38), & have found I can/will cycle through all the denial/despair/just do it emotions at varied rates. Everyone here is non-judgmental, and eager to help anyone who asks, get back on track. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask - again, welcome!

Welcome Tracy, I was in denial for a long time too. I ignored everything the doc told me until it smacked me in the face. lol I hope you find everything here that you are looking for. I just joined myself and have found a wealth of information here. If you ever need anything let us know.

Oh tracy...we are talking about two diffierent kinds of denial here...you are keeping it close to your chest and I am keeping it close to my waistline! LOL

I don't care WHO knows I am diabetic, as long as I can still eat everything I want to and not prick my fingers 6-8 times a day!

I wonder who has it worse here??? Hopefully we will both get by with a little help from our friends. Hey! Isn't that a song?

Hi Tracy! Welcome to the site! I am new here as well. Everyone has been so friendly and helpful! I have had the "Big D" for quite some time and I am STILL in denial...I hope you fair better than me! LOL Actually I hope to gain inspiration from some of these guys so that I can do better myself!

I think we both have made a great first step!
