Hi Twix, I started with 500mg a day 15 years ago. It worked very well for a few years but my bg crept up slowly. More exercise and dieting didn't work. My endo was concerned as I wasn't eating much, yet my bg went up. I'm now on 1000mg a day with ...

If the doctor isn't listening to you, or helping you, he's a hinderance to you. Dump him. And tell him exactly why you are finding another doctor. Put it in writing. Some docs just don't get it. Diabetics are frequently poo pooed about so many thi...

I hope you find answers. It seems no one has any suggestions that you find very helpful. All I can offer is this site..................http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/ ...........and a few heartfelt beliefs......sometimes the answers are outside...

Thanks for your reply Twixcookie, Diabetes indeed causes fatigue. On the other hand, I don't agree that I've "found an answer" regarding Sublingual B-12. I eat a balanced diet not lacking in vitamins too. But I've also been taking metformin for se...

Diabetes causes fatigue. I am not lacking in vitamins, and don't see the need to look outside the diabetic problems for a reason for it. I am glad you found an answer though.

Mike,

Exactly, the media isn't to be trusted.
The media is saying Americans aren't smart enough to figure out what is good for them.
The elitist, smug media thinks they know better, but they are just mouthpieces for the Left.
Be careful what you wish for.
Once you give up something to the government, you won't get it back. Continue

Health Insurance Monopolies

The reason people have health insurance is to cover the costs they cannot afford. Since healthcare is rising so significantly, and a lot of it is due to downright waste, insurance companies are denying pre-existing conditions such as Diabetes.

If your employer does not offer insurance, and it is a myth that companies must offer it for full time employees- it is up to the employer's discretion, you are stuck.

I have personally fought with insurance companies.

They tell me I will cost them too… Continue

Things are getting better

I have more energy, and I haven't had one of those fatigue attacks where my eyes roll up in my head since I have been on the Metformin XR. I didn't expect to be successful with it, bought it with trepidation, but the 4 bucks paid off. I have lost about 8 pounds now, am walking and exercising daily.

I want my old self back. I know others know what I mean when I say this.

I hope my cholesterol goes down. I am eating like a cave man. Fish, blueberries, nuts, tons of vegetables of all kinds, eggs,… Continue

The Long Slow Road to Hell

I found out today when I went to get some prescriptions refilled, that my insurance had dropped me. I was shocked. I asked the pharmacist to run it through again. She did and it came up not covered. I asked them again and again, and she said yours don't show you're on that plan...jeesh.

I was in the hospital this week. Gosh, was I covered for that or not?

I would like to think they would notify me if I was not covered. I would like to think they would give a reason. The only reason I can think… Continue

Acceptance

I guess acceptance is looking death right in the eyes and knowing it is just a matter of time. Maybe we are not meant to live this long.
I know my heart will not keep up with all this strain on it. My attempts to lose weight have failed, no matter what I have done.
I am no longer on any medication, and the blood shot eyes, shaking, blurred vision, waking up sick to my stomach, and really bad attacks of sleepiness are back.
There is nothing to take. All of the others can cause pancreatitis, heart… Continue

Hi! Sorry I was unable to respond right away. I get caught up with work and don't always visit the site daily. That's why I read mostly and do not reply too often.

Such an unbelievably sad event.
We have her ashes, and the idea is to spread some in her favourite places...and in places she would have loved to investigate had she been given the freedom. The remaining ashes would go into a garden stone I will create in her memory, in shades that were becoming to her...pinks, mauves (she was a grey Tabby)....however, I still have to muster up the courage to open the urn.
