I am a single mother of an 11 year old who was diagnosed with type 1. Her diagnosis came as a total shock because we don't have type 1 in the family (at least not that I am aware of). Her diagnosis…Continue
"My daughters Endo explained to us that the more uncontrolled he blood sugar is the higher chance a diabetic has of having cholesterol issues.
With that said, my daughters cholesterol was checked recently and yep, her levels are higher than normal.…"
"The new pod is only coming into production now. I called omnipod last week to see when they would be moving us over to the new one. They said that everyone will eventually go to it, but the roll out is going to be slow.
The new pod is a ton smaller…"
"Every diabetic is different. What I do with my daughter is not exactly the same as what someone else does with their t1 child. With that said, my daughter reacts crazy with exercise. She drops unpredictably,so at 158 I would only treat her with the…"
First let me tell you that you are not alone in the way you feel. It is a whirlwind if information that you were feed over the last few days and most of it is scary. The lows, the highs, the complications that they reiterate about a…"
"My daughters doctor encouraged us to get a pump from almost the first day she was diagnosed. It is an aweful policy to say that someone has to control their blood sugars before going on pump. It is impossible to keep blood sugars leveled out when…"
"I'm an X-ray tech. I have done many many bone age X-rays. It really isn't a big deal. It consists of one X-ray of the hand = very little radiation and very little time.
What they are looking for in this particular X-ray is how closed her…"
"My daughter has a golla pouch that she wears around her waist. There are a bunch of styles, most for girls, but here is a link for one that is a boys style. http://golla.com/#/en/products/info/G977

"I think that as long as she is healthy, then it is fine. My daughter absolutely loves hot dogs straight from the fridge (I know gross). I do however try to provide turkey dogs for her, since her CDE said that quite a few D children tend to have high…"
My daughter always had the injection in the thigh. The doctor said that it was recommended in that area. I have heard of people doing it in the abdomen as well. I don't think that exercise causes an increased absorption rate of…"
Thanks so much! We do the same thing! I guess this is just how it goes! I will just hand her her meter when I feel she is being irrational! (or whatever you call it) It's good to know we arent' the only ones on this roller coaster ride! Sometimes my husband and I will describe the mood she is in by naming it a roller coaster ride(Demondrop, tHE bEAST, The Gemini etc...)
It sounds that we are in the same boat! Its hard to know if she is having a "diabetes mood, puberty mood, or preteen mood" I guess I just frustrated when I think we are getting a hang og it and then we get crazy numbers!
