Hi Twix, I started with 500mg a day 15 years ago. It worked very well for a few years but my bg crept up slowly. More exercise and dieting didn't work. My endo was concerned as I wasn't eating much, yet my bg went up. I'm now on 1000mg a day with ...

Hi Corey, Like what Jessica said, you need to test more often. You have to learn what type of food gives you high blood sugar so that you can plan your diet. You must also test before and after playing sport. You might need extra carbo to prevent ...

Well, that's not surprising, if you have to pay for it, at least, you expect some benefit of it...
Our system is very good, but very expensive and as medicine becomes more and more high-tech and more expensive, the system gets hard to support. Somehow, they will have to cut costs, and we will end with a system where people with a big income, will receive less...
All hospitals are private here, so basically health care is somehow the same quality in every hospital...

Hi Varena. Healthcare in Belgium is very good. We have a social security system from the government. Everybody pay each month a certain percantage of his salary for health insurance. This insurance pays a lot of your health issues costs. For instance, I get all my material (glucosemeter, strips, pens, insuline, etc...) for free (well free... I pay each month 9 % of my salary for this insurance). Also doctor visits are paid for. Doctors are also well educated... I'm lucky, as a diabetic, to live in Belgium. And how is it in Singapore ?

Before I left for Manila I was 130 lbs. Which is normal to slightly heavy for somebody 5'4 heoght and medium build frame. That was September. October I5th I was about 135...Now Nov 10 is 139. Scary since Im gaining average of 5 pounds per 2 weeks. Im increasing cardio exercise time to 45 minutes (at least). By December 1 Im aimig for 134 again. Aaaaagh!!! Its so difficult LOL
Our master's bedroom bathroom does not have any locks... It started when I had the accident early 2008 and fell off our stairs. Surgery rendered me unable to walk for about 5 months. After an intensive rehab and therapy for about 8 months...Im good as new. But I am fearful of slipping again. Also for my husband who isnt exactly "small" LOL.
I just visited my friend last night... made me realize the value of life and the people who I love most. Im sorry about your husband's friend too. You sometimes cant help thingking in front of the casket...that it can be you in there...I just worry for my friend (his wife) too. Widow at age 35. With two daughters. Oh well...Guess God has things planned for them. Everything happens for a reason.
You sure have a very healthy weight! (From your profile photo) How do you do it??? I would have mistaken you for a woman at 30's with a figure of somebody in her 20's LOL

My both sons have got the H1N1 flu a week ago... just one day fever... another day some light flu symptons... and that was it. My doctor told me also that symptons from H1N1 are less bad than the regular flu. Don't worry to much... I believe more and more, things are blown up by the media...
Cheers, and thanks to comment back...

Oh my! The native decasies here are so tempting. We do not have any "Filipino grocery/specialty store" in Oklahoma so whenever I come home, it is the firsts thing I look for, LOL! Rice cakes, anything with coconut milk, sea foods and other sweets =) My bg is doing well amazingly...I try to do my usual routine exercises still. So my bg dances between 90 to 125. Its the weight Im having problems with LOL. By now I think I have to lose about 10 pounds!

I've had laser treatments for my eyes (that was done about 20 years ago). I had Neuropathy which was reversed when I learned tighter control. I had read that Neuropathy could be reversed and I applied what I learned about tighter control and it happened. I had numbness on the bottom of my feet for years. I didn't believe what I read until it happened, I was so happy!

Thanks Varena. It seems the sun is staying for awhile... yupie! I thought Id grow scales and fins already LOL. I will highly suggest to donate to Philippine private intitutions...like the Philippine Red Cross, or GMA Kapuso Foundation, or ABS CBN Foundation...NOT directly to the government. Its unfortunate that corruption is pretty bad in the Phil government. And some relief goods and monetary donations are unaccounted for. Many many thanks...Im sure affected families here will be ecstatic. Filipinos have always been resilient...No high waters will stop Christmas from coming =)

Really? Your husband and children vacate the room when you go to inject? So far, no one has ever done that with me - sometimes they are fascinated by what I'm doing. Now that I use the pump, it's abit easier, just pull out the pump, calculate this and that, bing, bang, boom, done! I had someone one time, when I pulled out my pump to take insulin for a meal, think I was going to take a picture of them! Really, it's true. I explained what it was, then they told me about their Mum being diabetic, and looking into getting her a pump. It's not a cheap device sad to say, but for me, luckily hubby's insurance paid 80% of the $7K, the rest is my birthday/Xmas pressies/etc. for the next 10 years - best pressie I could have in the whole wide world! Do many people use pumps in Singapore?
