Out of curiosity, what did you all eat for breakfast this morning? I am curious to see how we manage our BG numbers. Whether you are type 1, 2, LADA, MOBY, etc, I think it will be fun to see what we…Continue

Pneumonia - take 2 & Metformin, weight loss

So, these two darling subjects are intertwined. 30 days ago, my endo put me on strict insulin regiment with metformin for good measure. Looks like I may have a touch (there's sarcasm) of insulin resistance with a belly of 47 inches. Oops!At first the metformin was harsh - but I knew the side effects, and it didn't really bother me so much. When I went in them, I weighed 213.5 with clothes on. It's 30 days later, and now I'm down to 209.  Is that about right for the amount of weight loss in a…See More

Paleo is NOT a Cure for Diabetes

Hey everyone, I wanted to post this tomorrow on my blog, but wanted to give you all a sneak peek at what I have cooking. Let me know what you all think! - Jason

I want to start out this post by saying that I have the utmost respect for Robb Wolf. I have followed his podcast and his blog for over a year now, and his book “The Paleo Solution” has inspired me to look further into the Paleo lifestyle.…

Internet Tasting August 2011 #2

Posted on August 9, 2011 at 9:06am 3 Comments

Hello all! It has been a while since I posted a link here from my blog. Not to worry, I haven't forgotten about all of you, just needed a bit of reflection for my direction.

For the links in the blog post, I put them through the paces of my Living Cookbook 2011 that has all the nutritional information broken down. I tried to keep the CHO level below a threshold of 30 for a main meal, and 15 for a side or snack.

Hop over there and see what I found!…

Was this a Hypo????

Posted on February 28, 2011 at 3:11pm 18 Comments

I had the strangest thing happen to me at work today.

Before I start, I want to note that I have been checked by EKG 4 times in the last year, so the docs think my heart is great. In fact, they say that it is really healthy...

So, I am sitting down, piling through some paperwork, and I feel like my heart just... well... stopped. It started going again, but it was like a car with no gas. That happened for a second or two, then my chest felt warm.

I breathed… Continue

Okay, so now what?

Posted on January 26, 2011 at 11:18am 4 Comments

I am at a crosspoint here folks!

I have been going a bit low despite the lack of exercise I am doing.

I have recently sorta switched to an Atkins Induction diet (but with ALL NATURAL INGREDIENTS)

I barely take any Novo Rapid insulin. (In fact, I had to throw away 3/4 of my vial last month.

I am waking up with BG of 125 in the morning, but I am going down to >75 during the day. If I test at that level, I am hesistant to take the 1 unit of Novo Rapid. I am mostly afraid of… Continue

I'm making osso buco for dinner. Using beef shanks, not veal. Recipe calls for white wine, but should I use red because it's beef? Wondering if white is too light tasting for beef. Thanks!
