What a great analogy. I'll remember that the next time I "slip" on the stairway to my goal.

Thanks, Rebecca.

Where I usually wear the pod it's enough toward the side of my back that it rarely is actually touching the chair or car. Even when it does it's usually something I'm aware of as a slight difference for a minute and then forget about entirely. I d...

Obviously, this must not be the case, but I worry that wearing the pod on my back will be uncomfortable sitting in the car or any chair with a back. I've got some perfect little love handles back there......Why is it not uncomfortable?

Always make sure that you pinch up the fat during the cannula insertion process. this may be your problem.

Thanks everyone!

I love to wear the pod on my back...and like Rebecca...press down slightly on the cannula end while activating. Contrary to the pinch up method that I was taught, I haven't had any problems since doing this. I always have the window facing away fr...

I place the cannula end 1-2 inches below my rib cage b/c that's where my fatty tissue is...I always put the cannula down, and will direct it slightly laterally. I've also worn it almost horizontally with the cannula pointed laterally. I've worn it...

Ok, so I am a newborn on the pod, but I tried wearing it on my back and had an occlusion. I think i put it where the picture really showed... the best you can describe.. where exactly do you place your pod on the back, where is the cannula, do you...

um.. ow?

Ok so I am new to this pod thing.. I love it, well him, I call it a him.

I have been pumping for a long time but I have ALWAYS worn it on my belly. So I decided for my second pod.. I am going for the back! OUCH. I haven't hurt in a long time.

Oh well.. it doesnt hurt now. I was just surprised. It definitley was a prick. Then it felt itchy. Not like a real itch, but just enough pain that it gave an itching sensation.

Still amazing though!

Amazing...

Wow, I have my pod on. It is so cool! I love not being tied to something! When I get out of bed in the morning I still reach for something, but nothing is there! Amazing...

Wanna know what the first thing I did was? I got naked! How cool is that. I was still getting insulin the whole time. Amazing...

I am actually having fun checking my blood sugar. The meter that comes with the pod prompts you to label them, it lets you decide on every one if it should be an extended bolus, then it talks to y… Continue

waiting

So my omnipod has been ordered and is in the mail. Im waiting. This is worse than Christmas! I have not gotten a new pump for 4 years, which is normal and standard. However, this wait is killing me! I have not been so excited about something in a long time!

So much has changed, I was one of the first people on a pump when all this started. My mother had to fight tooth and nail with insurance to get me on a pump. Then it was rare and very cutting edge technology. My doctor was one of 8 in the co… Continue

Did you end up riding up in DFW? The rain put a bit of a damper on things but I had one hell of a blast riding.

Did you decide if you were going to ride in the DFW Tour de Cure? If so there is a team you should join called "Team Red" it is the Red Riders team. James, the captian of the team will probably be putting together a few "training" rides for it and would like to set up "no drop" rides for all of the routes that us Red Riders will be doing. That way if there are "new" riders out there they will have people to rely on while riding and for each of us to feed off the other with motivation to finish it out and finish it out strong.

If you are riding 24 miles, you should be able to do the 62. They will have rest stops ever 10-15 miles. You have to wear a helmet. It's a saftey issue. Crashed can happen and a head bouncing off pavement just isn't good. Bouncing off pavement with a helmet isn't good either, but it's better than not having a helmet. If you don't have one they will NOT let you ride. So you need to register, and remeber to register as a Red Rider if you are diabetic, get your helmet, and raise the minimum $150 for the ride.

I hope to see you and your mother out there. It should be a blast.

Hi I saw your post on the Texas group! I'm at school in Maine but live in Parker otherwise. I'll be home in a couple of weeks to do an internship in Frisco for the fall. Hope you are doing well and having a great week!

Hi Wendy I really appreciate the comment it means a lot. This disease can be very taxing as you surely know. It never ceases to amaze me how much a few little words can help someone...even after more than a year.

Take care sweetie, Happy Sugars!
