Welcome to our community, Wendy! I was diagnosed at age 10 and am a teacher now. I have worn an insulin pump for 8 years, but I did the shots for the first 10. Glad to have you in our mix here!

My son was diagnosed in Feb., this year. I know how hard it is at first. It DOES get better. You will find you have good and bad days but as you get used to the "routine" it becomes a part of life. You will see how strong you both are, good luck, feel free to ask any questions...this site has been very helpful to me...CourtneyV

Welcome to TuDiabetes Wendy!! I'm SO glad that you found this community! Did I read it correctly that your child was just diagnosed yesterday???

Please ask ANY questions here. There are lots of people who understand how to live life with diabetes and we are happy to help! But know that soon everything will feel normal!! Life with diabetes isn't always easy, but we can live a full and normal life and it is so good to remember that!
