Peter, I do know that when you are doing as intensive exercise/workouts as you are that you HAVE to take rest days to let your muscles repair themselves. During the exercising they tear and bruise and need time (a day or two) to repair themselves....
October 23
Peter, how many hours do you do per day? Maybe you should have two rest days. You mention being constantly sore - is it muscular or joint pain? By the way - welcome. Ziggy

Are you ladies doing the exercise to help to keep the blood glucose down and/or to lose weight and/or just to stay fit? I use mp3 player - rock music has a very punchy quick beat. You must be doing 5 miles or more per hour Sparrowrose. Whichever ...

Hey Patrycia and Sparrowrose, with you on the walking aspect - 5-6 day a week if possible, don't cycle though. If I don't get my walk I get a bit tetchy (grumpy)

Hi Ziggy...how's it all going? I don't suppose you celebrate Thanksgiving Day in the UK...but I thought I'd send festive good wihes nonetheless, as we should be thankful any and every day, right?!
In Canada, we celebrate Thanksgiving Day tomorrow, Oct.12th (the US celebrate theirs the 4th Thursday of November!)
Take care, and be well....linda.

Ziggy---Forgot to mention fenugreek which I also take. You might consider experimenting with Hawthorn in some form as support for all issues involving the heart---from heart disease to BP.

Are you familiar with books by the Canadian Michael Murray? He's written extensively and knowledgeably on all these things we are interested in---from healing foods to supplements. His encyclopedia of Natural Medicine is an excellent basic reference......And Europe in general is so far ahead of the US in studying these things---Sweden and Germany seem to do a lot of good work

I see you are vegetarian---way to go. I can't quite get there, but I only eat meat once a day now, and only 3 oz at a time.....More soon, I'm sure!.....Judith

Nopal has been excellent for me, Ziggy. I have also found Gymnema and chromium helpful. I drink a quart and a half of tea a day, including about 4 cups of green. I change the blend from time to time, but there is always green and dandelion (for liver health) in the mix, as well ginger, chamomile and mint. And yes, I'm a believer in getting those Omega 3s---I do a fish oil supplement, as well as 2 servings of ground flax seed a day and 1 serving of walnuts. I'm still working with diet and exercise only and these things seem to help me maintain.I also try to eat meat only once/day, so I take my soy as tofu a couple times a week only (too much is bad for thyroid). Oh and I put cinnamon in my morning smoothie.

If you like this kind of approach, I would be happy to go back and forth with you on details. I am cautious at first because many folks mistrust these things and many others don't know how to pay attention to what their bodies tell them as they try new things one at a time.......Be well.....Judith

Cute isn't it?!! We've just had some very sad news about our own kitty. Meeko, our 15 y.o. Tabby, has been diagnosed with cancer. Her little body is riddled with tumours; some on the surface. There isn't much that can be done, as the tumours are simply too numerous. We're taking it day by day. Someone had suggested a macrobiotic diet; I'm looking into it....but without much luck. Would that even work on a pet?

Her little body appears to be riddled with tumours, some on the surface. There's not much to be done; as there are simply too many. We're taking it day by day...and if it becomes too painful for her, well...we will have to have her put to sleep. Someone suggested a macrobiotic diet....I'm looking into it without much luck. Is that a possibility for pets?
