Did you verify this with fingersticks? I'll notice sometimes my Dexcom will actually exaggerate these roller-coasters.

I see you have the 7+. I'm still using the regular Dexcom 7 and am getting a little fed up with its inaccuracies. How is the 7+?

My answer may be a little biased since I'm a type I, but I think a good ophthalmologist who is a diabetic would make sure their levels are in check before beginning any surgery. I would also hope that if they experience hypoglycemia unawareness, tha…

Ophthomology...and the shakes.

I'm currently on my ophthomology (eye doctor) rotation for 4 weeks. It's an elective I'm doing because I'm seriously considering choosing it as a specialty.
So...today I'm sitting in on a surgeries all day...EYE surgeries. For those that have no experience with it, eye surgery (in particular the glaucoma and cataract surgeries I saw today) involve a lot of very precise movements under a microscope on a patient's cornea (the clear part in the front of the eye), sclera (the white part around… Continue

Hey everyone!

About me...
I'm currently a 4th year in the MD/MBA program at Yale. And before ask, no, I'm probably not going into endocrinology. I AM, however, really interested in medical devices (obviously) and am exploring that as a career opportunity while in business school.
I'm 24 years old, and have a wonderful and supporting family and girlfriend. I grew up in Westport, CT, and am now living in New Haven. I was diagnosed a year and a half ago, when I was 23 years old. Interestingly enough, t… Continue

hey, how did your international traveling go? I'll be traveling internationally in April (AZ to Paris) and I'm a little hesitant. Did everything go ok for you?

Adam, thanks very much for your feedback on Turkey, it's good to know I shouldn't expect to find insulin easily. Just curious, did you not use the Frio thing because it didn't work? (Still debating whether or not to buy one) Or is it that it was just easier not to use it?

Hi Adam, I just read your post (from last year) about international travel. Looks like I'm going to Turkey next month and wondered if I could ask your advice. (This is the first time I've traveled anywhere since I was diagnosed, so I'm a little nervous.) Any insights/suggestions on traveling in Turkey as a type 1? Thanks in advance!

Hi Adam

If you're available, the Bike the Miles ride is next Sunday starting and finishing in New Canaan. It might be fun to be there around noon as the various riders come home.

I'll be driving down from Massachusetts on Saturday to take part. Maybe I'll see you there.
